Not really. He's just a pathological liar and a failed community organizer.
He considers himself a constitutional scholar. Claims he knows the law, said as much and actually got it right. Now he's lying through his teeth to try to justify what he knows is an unconstitutional act.

This is false. Reagan expressed reservations.
The Democrats lied to Reagan and promised a closed border. No one was in favor of what the Democrats did because they lied all the way.
Reagan was President. He's was in charge of the INS and the Border Patrol. Why was it the Democrats fault the borders weren't closed?
Because Congress never kept their word. Reagan was not an imperialistic emperor but President of a republic.
Look, all of this has been expounded by Democrat lawyer Turley and that is the reason that Turley is such a major defection from the theory of the imperial emperorship. The law is complicated but the essence of the legal point is that Congress passed a law that Reagan did not like but he enforced anyway and he acted to enforce the Congressional intent. Bush Sr. the same. Nevertheless, Congress passed a law telling Bush Sr. that good intentions of enforcing Congressional law aside, no President was to issue executive actions on immigration in the future. Reagan's actions as I understand them dealt with extending Congressional amnesty to people who had been in the country before 1982 but had left and returned. It was a limited specific action and was designed to support federal law. It was not imperialistic.

So he didn't say that the law was being broken. We already know that this is stepping on people's toes. But it's silly to keep calling stuff illegal just because a bunch of DC bureaucrats have gotten their feelings hurt that this man doesn't care that they have won both houses of Congress.

These decrees may be good for the hard left but they have destroyed the republic. These decrees may lead to a civil war, which is what the imperialists are hoping for.

I recall seeing an old cartoon back from the Presidency of Lincoln and how people were referring to him as Emperor would he unilaterally signed the order to end slavery.
People are now starting to pick up on what President Obama is being called and what Lincoln was called.
Just saying.
Best estimates are that there are 12 million illegals in the country, not all to them are voting age.

And I believe that VOTES is what this is really about. The GOP doesn't want the Hispanic community in the Democrats pocket the way that they feel like Blacks are.
Such a unilateral move could lead to millions of Democrat votes in the near future because of an issue that Hispanics feel like the GOP refused to budge and help them.
They may have won the midterms, but they are screwing the long term with this issue.
If the Dems can harangue the majority of the Black and Hispanic voting blocs, the GOP won't have another President for a long, long time.
Another impact that has barely been mentioned.
With implementation this heinous XO, the taxpayers were handed a $5 billion tax bill due almost immediately to be paid out in cash to illegals within the next few months.
