I had a friend download esword to a cd for me (I only have dialup connection). I didn't realize it only came with KJV and no commentaries or additional downloads, that those had to be downloaded separate. Is there a way that a link could be given with all of the available downloads, for me to painfully download, or will this have to be downloaded to cd?

I keep my e-sword stuff on my hard drive.
I have e-sword windows going all the time
i'm browsing the Baptitst Board. My
Internet Service seems to be inturrepted
three or four times a day (usually for under
five minutes) and I like having all the time
    /i have electricity/ Bible access.

    I got what i wanted:

    Geneva Bible
    KJV1611 Edition Bible
    KJV1769 plus (with Strongs)

That KJV1769 is cool cause it has the
Strongs number included. You can put the
cursor on the strongs number and it gives
the meaning (wheater Greek or Hebrew)

    For example:
    Joh 3:16 For1063 God2316 so3779 loved25 the3588 world,2889 that5620 he gave1325 his848 only begotten3439 Son,5207 that2443 whosoever3956 believeth4100 in1519 him846 should not3361 perish,622 but235 have2192 everlasting166 life.2222

But i change it to read:
    Joh 3:16 (KJV1769 Edition + Strongs)
    For1063 God2316 so3779 loved25 the3588 world,2889 that5620 he gave1325 his848 only begotten3439 Son,5207 that2443 whosoever3956 believeth4100 in1519 him846 should not3361 perish,622 but235 have2192 everlasting166 life.2222

And here is the Strong's entry for G166:

    G166
    αἰώνιος
    aiōnios
    ahee-o'-nee-os
From G165; perpetual (also used of past time, or past and future as well): - eternal, for ever, everlasting, world (began).

The Greek leterts i have to transfer direct
to the BAPTIST BOARD Post a Reply screen,
the rest i usually go through Notepad (cause
i can never tell when i might loose my connection)

I didn't see any reason to have the other possible
aids (Commentaries, etc - do they chage for
    the aids?)

Anyway, you should be able to figure out how
to transfer what you want to your hard drive
and have the proper screen icons to launch
it (when you launch the program it has
random e-sword usage hints). I figured it out
an i ain't no geek

I have that on cd. I just do not have the time to wait for all of the additional downloads since I have a 56k connection. I downloaded Adam Clarke's commentary, and it took over an hour! At this rate, it might be 10 years to download all of the available downloads! I was curious if there is a quicker way, like a link with all of the downloads together, some way to forward the downloads, or something.

Thanks for the addy Brother C4K. [IMG]

I went and grabbed (free) the latest e-sword
upgrade. Then i saw John Darby's Notes and
grabbed them also. I'm being accused of being
    a dispensational Darbite - i think i'll read
what Bro. John Darby had to say about
    dispensationalism [IMG]

    Thanks Ed.

To go off on a small rabbit trail, what good computer programs similar to esword are there for purchase at, say, Family Christian bookstores? Is there anything where you type in a verse, and you are able have access to numerous translations, dictionaries, commentaries and biblical cross references? I'm looking for something for heavy, indepth study, so additional greek and hebrew resources are important, also.

I have some of the other programs and find esword is the best for me. I do use an old version of Bible Companion also, but they are out of business.

email me an address and I will send you the cd for esword that has the major resources on it.

    E-sword is an amazing ministry.

With E-sword you could become a reasonably capable user of a variety of Greek texts in a couple of weeks.

The ability to do a verse by verse comparison between several commentaries is really helpful.

Until mid-February the HCSB was available free.
I know that downloads take a bit of time on dial-up but the resources are very helpful.

Hey, lets give the guy a plug. He does this free or for donations if you feel like it. If you like the program and can afford something, drop him a line of encouragement and stick in a check [IMG]

Can't tell you how nice the pocket pc version is either [IMG]
