The ban was misnamed. Semi automatic weapons are not classified as assault weapons / rifles (edit, they were wrongly classified as such), automatic weapons are assault weapons / rifles. This shows how ignorant our elected officials are. The very phrase is a media invention.

Do you think it was actually ignorance or just that they tried to use this as an attempt to reclassify them to be more inclusive?

Yes, the gungrabbers are illogical and ignorant. However, we did have a law, commonly called the assault weapons ban and it did expire under Bush. The weapons on the list varied greatly in style and mechanism.

It is possible that Obama would reenact that old law. However, it does not seem likely, IMO. He has a bigger ban in mind and a much more comprehensive law he wishes to ensnare us with.

I think he will try with an executive order. It will be one part of the bigger picture. But that will not be all he will do and I believe it may get challenged in the courts.

No the gun grabbers are not at all illogical and ignorant. They are well educated and logically pursuing an agenda to disarm us. Would they go to all the trouble of putting out wall to wall misinformation and disinformation because they don't know any better?

To ban or not to ban?

More than anything right now the gun grabbers want to register every gun owner. And they aren't above lying, conniving and playing dumb to hide their true motive to see it happen.

The Feinstein bill isn't about banning so called assault weapons. It's a gun registration and confiscation bill.
