I believe classifying their treatment under the auspices of Exodus as a "side show" is open to criticism. Essentially, counseling that helps them work through whatever spiritual issues they have faced in their lives that has brought them to the point of practicing homosexual behavior has to be as valuable for them as is counseling for the addict or disordered gambler. I know -- I'm a counselor to both of the latter.Part of the problem with this group of individuals is that they think they need and deserve special treatment and that the church needs to adjust to help them, or just plain accept them as believers when they remain unrepentant.
I said it before that the only methodology for them is the preaching of the Gospel, and to repent -- you know, just like the rest of us who are believers. They don't need a special program, they need the Gospel and repentance, regeneration, renewal &c.
These do get saved through preaching -- Paul did nothing special for them as a 'side show'.
'...Or do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: neither the sexually immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor men who practice homosexuality, nor thieves, nor the greedy, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God. And such were some of you. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God.' 1 Corinthians 6:9-11

You seem to assume that Exodus did not preach the gospel to them. If you read through their treatment regimen online, you will see that is exactly what they did, as well as providing the personal one-on-one approach every sinner needs in resolving his/her particular life issues. If you discount the value of counseling, I must interject that counseling is valuable, no matter what the sin affliction might be.
OK. Sorry to jump to conclusions. I'm a world champion conclusion jumper. :thumbsup:Nope. I am not assuming they didn't preach the Gospel to them.
