Faith Re-Visited for the ???? time

    But when Calvinists say that faith is a special gift, they are using the word faith as shorthand for faith in Christ, or saving faith. Scripture uses the word faith that way, too. Sometimes it doesn't, but more often than not, it does. For instance, when it says our salvation is through faith, it doesn't mean through faith in general, but through faith in Christ.

    Faith in Christ (or saving faith) is a gift because it is a gracious act of God to show us, through the work of the Spirit, the value and wisdom of Christ as an object of our faith.
