Is there an allegation of violations of law? Is there allegations this occurred in public? Someone leaked a recording of a 911 call. Do you know their intentions? Do you if the recording has been edited? Gossip!!

Falling down drunk in his own home? We don’t know any facts concerning his level of intoxication. Gossip! Cut himself? Blood everywhere? Are we to assume this was a suicide attempt? We have no facts surrounding the circumstances that led to this. Gossip! Breaking down doors? Gossip!

A 911 recording usually reflects a very emotional time when all the facts are not known.

    It’s all gossip.

    peace to you

    So Very true Yeshua -

I was just thinking - back in post # 2, Canadyjd mentioned that we should be careful of turning this into gossip.
He is totally correct. Often Christians love to engage in tearing down others.
Granted, Jerry and the Mrs- have went way off the path - but we have a loving and forgiving God.
Lets pray that Jerry and Becky receive the help they so desperately need.
In the end - lest trust that the Lord can use this event to bring Glory to his Name

Jesus says strong warnings about the hypocrites and false teachers as does Peter. They will be among you, but they are not of you. They show by their fruit who they are. Just like Paul wrote about, they are examples for us to not do the things they do. These things are to be viewed as learning experiences for the true church to not be like them.

    1 Corinthian 10
1For I do not want you to be ignorant, brethren, that our forefathers were all under and protected by the cloud [in which God’s Presence went before them], and every one of them passed safely through the [Red] Sea,
    2 And each one of them [allowed himself also] to be baptized into Moses in the cloud and in the sea [they were thus brought under obligation to the Law, to Moses, and to the covenant, consecrated and set apart to the service of God];
3 And all [of them] ate the same spiritual (supernaturally given) food,
4 And they all drank the same spiritual (supernaturally given) drink. For they drank from a spiritual Rock which followed them [produced by the sole power of God Himself without natural instrumentality], and the Rock was Christ.
5 Nevertheless, God was not pleased with the great majority of them, for they were overthrown and strewn down along [the ground] in the wilderness.

6 Now these things are examples (warnings and admonitions) for us not to desire or crave or covet or lust after evil and carnal things as they did.

7 Do not be worshipers of false gods as some of them were, as it is written, The people sat down to eat and drink [the sacrifices offered to the golden calf at Horeb] and rose to sport (to dance and give way to jesting and hilarity).

8 We must not gratify evil desire and indulge in immorality as some of them did—and twenty-three thousand [suddenly] fell dead in a single day!

    9 We should not tempt the Lord [try His patience, become a trial to Him, critically appraise Him, and exploit His goodness] as some of them did—and were killed by poisonous serpents;

10 Nor discontentedly complain as some of them did—and were [a]put out of the way entirely by the destroyer (death).

11 Now these things befell them by way of a figure [as an example and warning to us]; they were written to admonish and fit us for right action by good instruction, we in whose days the ages have reached their climax (their consummation and concluding period).

12 Therefore let anyone who thinks he stands [who feels sure that he has a steadfast mind and is standing firm], take heed lest he fall [into sin].

Has the payment already occured? I received a letter from Alumni Relations stating that first Liberty was hiring a law firm to fully investigate Jerry and all of his dealings during his reign as President of the University.

Why is this brought up here? This is nothing more than gossip, whether or not it is true. I think that Matt. 7:12 applies here, as well as several other verses. This is just kicking a man when he is already down.

It is not gossip, you and anyone else calling this gossip have no reading comprehension, or even understand what the word means.

Ephesians 5 applies here. The wolves and the false teachers , works of darkness and evil things do not like getting exposed.

"And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather expose them."

The fact that Falwell was not someone to learn from has already been established earlier, well before your thread. You are not doing anyone a good service here. Leave it to the world to spread the dirt. Don't help them out. There is a difference between casting light and spreading dirt.

Obviously that does not agree with scripture. Like I said, the evil things do not like to be exposed, but Paul has told us not to go along with that, but rather expose them. And I am not making up stories either.

A leaked 911 call is not confirmation of any details as being true. Your given definition is confirmation this is gossip.

    peace to you

To those who think it is gossip, which I disagree, why do you keep contributing to the thread?

It is important to challenge our brothers and sisters in Christ to walk in a manner worthy of their profession of faith by avoiding gossip.

Not everyone contributing to this thread is gossiping. Many are calling for prayer to these folks without discussing the supposed “details” that have not been confirmed.

    peace to you

I don't think gossip is the best term to use. That is beside the point. But I have already said all I need to say on this sad subject.

Resist the devil and he will flee from you, otherwise you and he will get to know each other better. No one to blame but yourself for falling into temptation.

James 4:7 says, Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you.

If you do not do this, then you will fail and fall.

Wherefore he says, God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble.

Pride comes before a fall. God resists the proud, and they will fall under the condemnation of the devil.

so, I take it that you always "resist the devil", and he goes away, and never fall into temptation? If so, then you must be the presen day Enoch! :Unsure

You may argue against scripture all you like then. Your argument is not with me.

    Sounds like a bad accident.
It is sad anyone uses alcohol to excess, normally not an indicator of a happy person.

The implication here appears to be negative, but is this a moral outrage, or someone who needs prayer.
