    This past month the Skaneateles (dont even try to pronouce it) New York, Town Board denied membership at the Community Center to a "family".
    Lisa and Mary Beth Alibrandi were denied a family membership to the Center as lesbians do not fit the the board's definition of a family, despite the fact they were "married" by a Unitarian Universalist minister.
    About a week later the board compromised by allowing membership to a new categorty for members of "househoulds"

    What say you?

    PS, Skaneateles is about 20 miles SW of Syracuse.

    Same gender marriage isn't legal in New York. They're not a family, even in the most secular of notions. However, if it were legal in NY, and they legally got married, then, as much as I would disagree with the marriage, a towne board should not restrict their membership. If they were a private non-profit firm, that would be one thing, but a public entity, that's different.
