FanGate--Flordia Governor Debate Delayed Seven Minutes

Apparently Charlie Crist has an aversion to sweating so he brings a fan with him wherever he goes. There is even a Twitter account named Charlie Crist's fan (@CCristFan). Last night's debate rules clearly stated "no electronic devices allowed at the podium."

Anyway...

-------
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) — It's no secret in Florida that former Gov. Charlie Crist likes to stay cool by using a portable fan.

Republican Gov. Rick Scott's efforts to turn Crist's devotion to the device into a debate-night advantage disrupted the start of their second televised encounter Wednesday night. And the finger-pointing over "fangate" that followed brought renewed ridicule Thursday to Florida's elections.

The actual incident lasted seven minutes — an eternity on live television.

When the debate started, TV viewers initially saw an empty stage. After moderator and Miami television anchor Eliott Rodriguez called it a "peculiar situation," Crist came out.

Rodriguez then told the audience at Broward College that the panel of questioners had been told Scott was refusing to take the stage because Crist's use of a fan under his lectern violated debate rules.

I don't understand whay Scott made such an issue out that a fan.

I think it is because he knows Crist is so anal about having a fan blowing on him that he wanted to "get into his head" and deny him his beloved fan. Throw him off his game.

Being seen as obtuse and odd will lose him more votes. Crist picked up some points off of this.

Which is tragic, because my experience of following Crist in politics shows him to be a true politician to the core, meaning he'll do or say whatever is necessary, and will simply waft in whatever direction the political wind is blowing, to gain votes.

Thankfully I live in Georgia and don't have to worry about that...
