As I research abortion I find myself becoming sickened by the whole thing. I am firmly convinced that life begins at conception and many of society's problems stem from abortion... but that is another issue.

Naturally I am coming across many medical and ethical issues and one came up today that is amazing. This is a summary from a newsletter sent out by SPUC:

"Immature sperm cells have been created from bone marrow stem cells, according to British scientists. Researchers at the University of Newcastle isolated stem cells from the bone marrow of male volunteers and cultured them in a laboratory, adding a form of vitamin A so that they grew into immature sperm cells. The researchers believe that it may take another 3-5 years of work to produce mature sperm cells. Professor Karim Nayernia, who led the research, said that he hopes the technique could lead to treatment for male infertility. [Guardian, 13 April] Professor Nayernia also claimed that it may be possible for sperm to be made from women's stem cells, saying that there was evidence that this was possible in mice. The researchers' paper said that the research could "raise profound new possibilities such as the possible creation of a child by combining the genetic material of two women". Critics Professor Robin Lovell Badge and Josephine Quintavalle said that the paper had over-hyped the findings [Telegraph, 13 April]"

Why the mention about abortion? Well, it is stem cell research that is linked to abortion and hence, its mention.

All I keep think is "God, help us."

Man, that WAS an embarresing typo - life begins at conception... its easy to get the spelling of the two mixed up... the both have a "t" in them...

Thanks for bringing it to my attention, and thanks for the kind words.

Implant them in a virgin and one gets a "sinless" human - if it is through the parent's sex act that we "inheret" sin?

Isn't the inheretance of Adam's sin taught as a biological function? If only a legal function then sinless perfection is theoretically possible.

Sex between a married couple is not a sin. So how does that work?

Well, I do know that man-made tradition has it that the son of perdition will be born of a virgin in order to convince people that he's truly the messiah.

There have already been a few children born from women that were technically virgins. In this way, it wouldn't even be technically.
