I am also torn.

He is our president and we MUST pray for him.

But his policies and those from whom he takes advice are clearly wrong in my estimation.

May the Lord bless him with the mind of Christ and give him wisdom and courage to do the right thing.

May the Lord protect him and his beautiful family.

We seek a city not built with hands.

I was trying to "go there" without having to "go there". However your reply is forcing me to "go there" so, I will "go there". I guess that is understandable.

The Bible commands, not suggests, that we "malign no one...showing every consideration for all men" (Titus 3:1-2). It also commands, not suggests, that we give "fear to whom fear" is due and "honor to whom honor" is due (Rom 13:7). We are also commanded to pray for "all men, for kings and all who are in authority" (1Tim 2:1-3). We should pray for President Obama.

The Bible also states that rulers are "not a terror to good works." So, those in office who ARE a terror to good works, are not rulers, but usurpers and tyrants. Therefore, they are not due any honor nor reverence. Quite the opposite. Jeering and flouting is their due.

But what folks don't understand is that in THIS land, the President is not a ruler. The law (natural law) is the ruler.

Personal attacks on any person is not fulfilling any of the commands of Scripture. We can, and I certainly do, disagree strongly with many of Obama's godless policies. We can, we should, and I do, stand up against such policies. However we should avoid maligning anyone.
What was malignant in the poster? Is Obama not a socialist? Is socialism a monster or not?

When the Spirit symbolizes human governments in prophecy, are they ravening beasts or angels?

The poster is true.

Besides, there is nothing personal about it. It is public. Christ's command to "resist not evil" does not extend to those who are public enemies. Loving one's neighbor as thyself, on the otherhand, demands that we resist those who would oppress our neighbors.

You say that President Obama is "the face of Socialism in the early 21st Century". Maybe there is some truth in that. But Nero, who was in power when Paul wrote many of his letters (including 1Timothy), was probably one of the most wicked and deranged caesars of the first century. Sure men like Caligula and Tiberius come in a close second. However Nero was certainly one of the most wicked rulers in the first century. No doubt, the Apostle Paul disagreed with many of Nero's policies. No doubt, the Apostle Paul was concerned about how Nero's policies were affecting the lives of Jews and gentiles alike. And no doubt, as Paul was about to be beheaded because of Nero's wickedness (Tacitus, "The Annals of Imperial Rome"), he was amazed at the wickness and evil of Nero's heart. However Paul refused to malign anyone. He prayed for the wicked rulers and commanded us to do the same.
The first five years of Nero's reign is referred to as the "quinquennium Neronis" and was legendary for it's order and peaceful administration. It was during the quinquennium Neronis that Paul was in prison and penned those words. Do not think that Paul would have Christians submit to the beast that Nero became, and who made war against them.

As citizens of heaven and the United States, we should avoid supporting distortions of fact and photo. While the poster in question is certainly protected by the first amendment, it is not something that is proper for Christians.
Not sure of your eschatology, but there's no question in my mind that the beast of Revelation was Nero.

The poster is not about Obama personally, but about Socialism and it's monstrous appearance. It is not only true, but proper.

Edited: [but I want to thank you. I have better words for the acronym in my signature.]

I think you may have shown us that it is possible to achieve both titles.

I guess everyone could be considered a fool, depending on who you ask.

As far as being a hypocrite, I wasn't even a member of this board during Bush's presidency. I was not fond of him after the invasion of Iraq, but previous to this I thought he was alright.
