They are stealing your money even when you didn't join their gang. I've never heard that one, but then I left the company before the government ordered that the union be allowed in, even after two failed votes.

I have an uncle that told me about the. "pestering" that the union uses to get people to join. Things like "the union member working over your head might not be so careful if you don't join". If I said such a thing I would get charged with extortion. I saw enough of it during the campain to have no doubt that it would get worse once they were in.

Do you get one pay check or one for each job?
Sounds to me like a scam.

Do you go to union meetings or do you do all your complaining on the web?

Way to ignore his salient points (par for the course for you to do). You've been shown by many examples what unions do, and how they have ruined scores of industries and businesses.

BTW...earth to Billwald: If I went to a union meeting with these kind of complaints mentioned here, I might leave in a body cast. No thanks.

    You are being robbed.

Move to Texas. Whatever you make, it's yours. Theft by union is against the law in Texas

Someone living on hand-outs complaining about a union, how ironic!

Was that directed toward me? Gee, let me see if I have my terribly offended smilie... Guess not. Now if that was directed at me and you really want an answer...

Yes, I attend the union meetings. I get to listen to them talk about the benefits they fight so hard to get for their members (except for the ones like me who work just under the threshold of hours). I get to hear how they protect the membership from unfair labor practices (except for ones like me who get bumped from a job because a more senior person wanted it). I get to hear about collective bargaining but they fail to see how the 2009 union dues now reduce my hourly wage to below minimum wage.

Am I complaining? You bet your union made boots I am! Does that offend you? I will loan you my terribly offended smilie as soon as I find it.

Chances are you'd find some non-union shops just as closed and our of business.

Probably because they didn't get a tax cut...

I think trade unions like the electrical brotherhood are different from employee's of a job organizing so they can get a fair deal from management. I don't care for the trade unions that drive the cost of construction sky high. I would like to see the tradesmen work for the contractors/builders. But I understand how they came about.

How many big shops on the East Coast are non-union ? Five- ten percent ? People don't like cement shoes.
