Former Democratic Congresswoman Corrine Brown has been found guilty in a federal court after it was discovered that she was a participant in a conspiracy to set up a fake charity that was used as a personal slush fund.
Brown was accused of funneling an estimated $800,000 through the charity that she had founded, One Door for Education Foundation, with much of it arriving in her personal bank accounts.
She submitted a claim of not guilty.
However, Brown was found guilty of 18 of the 22 charges, along with her chief of staff, Elias Simmons.
