Future may hold a black Pope

It makes sense - a Third World Pope I mean, not him being the Antichrist - as Catholicism is far more 'indigenised' in the Third World now than it is in an increasingly secularised Europe (and it never has been a driving force in North America). I'm not sure that that necessarily means he'll be black though; he could as easily be Latino/Hispanic or, with a lower likelihood, Asian.

They will have to hurry and elect a few more prominent coloured cardinals before that can happen. The current pope is a German, so that was a huge step from their historical past.

Cheers,

Cardinal Arinze is very respected and was on the short list for Pope after JP2's death..

According to wiki, the Nigerian Catholic became the youngest bishop in the world at age 32 when he was ordained in 1965...he's 76 or so now...
