"and act as if you aren't speaking English"
"
Most people on earth don't.
Come to think of it it is distinctly possible that in a couple of centuries another language will have replaced English as the number one international language.

gb: "Just look at Matthew Henry who started studying Greek at the age of ten. We should require of every student before they could vote or become a member in a church that they show a certain proficiency in Greek, Hebrew and Aramaic. Would we ever have an educated church. KJVOism would be eradicated permanently."

And just in case anyone says it can't be done, this weekend I had the opportunity to talk to a high school age girl who chose to learn Greek on her own from Mounce, and was doing exceedingly well.

Someone else I know was requested to have an additional class at church in which layperson's Greek would be taught so that they could examine the lesson materials in the language of revelation rather than having to examine the text only in the KJV and HCSB. The class is loving it (I visited once, and they really were gung-ho).

I sincerely believe we all should teach our language to everyone so one can understand the Bible. Your premise is unsubstanciate

Well, at least we know who to start with! [IMG]

Here is 1000 year old English (a Scripture text) from the year 1000AD:

Se byð mære and þæs hehstan sunu genemned. and him sylþ drihten god his fæder. dauides setl. and he ricsað on ecnesse on Iacobes huse: and hys rices ende ne byþ;

Can you translate it? There are a couple of excellent clues in the text.

One thousand years from now in 3004 AD (unless the Lord returns before then) the 1850 KJV will be just as unintelligible to those folks as the passage above is to us.

Strange that people would tell others to "use a dictionary" to understand the Bible. I thought the Holy Spirit was to be our guide. Oh...I forgot, that's as long as it fits the KJVO EXTREMISTS position. Seems to me if the Bible is to be preserved for every generation, there would be an updating of the English, Spanish, French or whatever language. Either that or God is a liar. Yet, the KJVO EXTREMIST sect would have us to believe we have to read Elizabethan English to understand the Bible and that all MV's are "of the Devil". Well, sorry folks, I don't buy it. The MV's have ALL of the doctrines in tact, as well as all of the fundamentals of the faith and can be trusted as our AUTHORITY in faith and practice.

Luke 1:32-33 (HCSB2003):
He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High, and the Lord God will give Him the throne of His father David. He will reign over the house of Jacob forever, and His kingdom will have no end.

What language did Jesus speak?

Definitely Aramaic; Scripture is not clear about what other language(s) He might have spoken. When He read aloud in Luke 4:16-21, He was almost certainly reading either Hebrew or Greek as He was using the synagogue's copy.

You can't expect everybody to have the mastery of the English language that you have. </font>
No, I actually expect better, at least from people who argue against the KJB, anyways. :D

I agree. An absolutely fantastic idea. Just look at Matthew Henry who started studying Greek at the age of ten. We should require of every student before they could vote or become a member in a church that they show a certain proficiency in Greek, Hebrew and Aramaic. Would we ever have an educated church. KJVOism would be eradicated permanently. </font>
Really now? Is that why so many Bible colleges teach these languages and rely solely upon the KJB? [IMG]

No, not 100%, as has been demonstrated numerous times in this forum. The KJV matches no edition of the TR perfectly.

So? Is this now an attack on the TR?
Maybe you do have a point here, even the KJB is more accurate? Certainly.
