I actually thought of that verse C4K when starting this. It doesn't interfere with the establishment of the Lords coming Kingdom (to which hell will not prevail) so it isn't applicable.

    What nation would that be?

After Christ judges the nations and completes His elimination of evil, a theocracy will work well. Until then, we have too many people wanting to be "Theo-" (or His designated representative). The only fully-reliable representative for God ("Theo-") is Jesus. And He already leads a great nation (the Kingdom of God) from every ethnic, national, and socio-economic group to do His will. The nations of the world, that are passing away, use the threat of violence to get their way. The Kingdom of God does not use the tactics of the world, but uses the power of the gospel (lived and preached) to transform the world. Christ calls disciples -- He does not force His will upon those who are in rebellion. His unshakable Kingdom will remain long after this present darkness is eliminated in the light of the full revelation of Christ.

The United States has never been a theocracy.

The kingdom is already here. It's called the church. And the gates of hell - death - cannot prevail against it.

    you want involvement?

you want involvement? Make better content that overcomes what they want to give kids and all other students in quality, style, and quantity, which can convict us to demand more wholesome content because it looks that much more awesome! Well that's the approcah I'm only able to take...

Granting the generalization, if the WIC money is spent as it is supposed to be spent, why do you want to control every aspect of their lives? The federal government does not control every aspect of education of schools that accept the handouts - do you think it should?

The government does have a big say in how they live; there are rules imposed. Why do you want absolute control over every aspect?

Tax money goes for the commonweal (theoretically). My portion of road money is not earmarked, nor should it be, for the road in front of my house only. I have some input in community boards and through my elected representatives.

You know, all this fussing about a bill handed to Arnie comes to late.

Where were the folks of California when this bill was being passed by the state legislatures? Get rid of those folks and what the gov does will take care of itself.

Like my Granny used to say: watch your pennies (state legislatures) and you dollars(governors) will take care of themselves.

People who know NOTHING about HOW the system works should really look into it. This is ridiculous. Look up PWORA, (1996). Did you even know that AFDC has been phased out and that TANF, or rather TEMPORARY ASSISTANCE FOR NEEDY FAMILIES, was implemented? There are more restrictions on welfare than you could imagine. BTW, NO ONE receives "welfare checks" anymore. Any benefits are put onto the EBT card. This card regulates EXACTLY how food stamps and benefit money is spent, and it must be signed for, like a credit card, with proper ID shown. The money HAS to be used in a certain way and CANNOT be used to give "charitable donations" to churches. If a family wishes to give money to their church they can give money earned from the jobs they have to have in order to receive the benefits in the first place. FTR, an unemployed person can receive limited benefits for a short period of time, but if, and only if, they are looking for work and show proof that they are doing every thing possible to find work. The ONLY other way an unemployed person can receive benefits is if they have a WELL DOCUMENTED disability or if they are wards of the state.

As for food stamps. As Daisy already mentioned healthy food tends to be a lot more expensive than other kinds of food. More than that, though, most families do not buy all junk food, unless you count hot dogs and bologna as junk food. Quick and cheap is usually on the menu. Why should the government restrict junk food? Do you believe everyone with food stamps is obese? If the "junk" is cheaper and the government restricts it, are YOU willing to offer more benefits to cover the difference, because this is the only means that some families have to eat? Regardless of what many of you think people on food stamps ARE NOT feasting on lobster and steak while you're eating peanuts.
