Georgia Baptist university cuts ties with Nike over Kaepernick ad
Emir Caner, president of Truett McConnell University, announced Sept. 7 that the Georgia Baptist Convention-owned school will no longer purchase or carry apparel by an athletic company that uses someone who “mocks our troops” to market their products.
Truett McConnell University president elaborates on why he cut ties with Nike
Caner said the university shop has been selling between $10,000 and $20,000 worth of Nike merchandise a year, such as shirts and caps, that bear the university's name and logo along with the Nike swoosh logo. Caner said the university would no longer stock Nike products featuring the school's brand once the current inventory sells out.

Georgia’s tiny Truett McConnell University drops Nike over ad

"Even if you live in Georgia, chances are, you never heard of Truett McConnell University. But this week the private Southern Baptist college in Cleveland, Ga....cut ties with the global apparel company, which supplies university t-shirts and other goods to the campus bookstore....students will still be allowed to wear Nike on campus"

"another tiny school, The College of the Ozarks, also banned Nike. At a weekend women’s volleyball match, the team wore plain gray t-shirts with the school’s name printed on the back."

"Also, this week, Kenner, La. Mayor Ben Zahn issued a...memo banning the purchase and use of any Nike products at the city's booster clubs and recreation departments."

Oops, the mayor's already called off his Nike boycott:

Kenner, La. (CBS Local)- Kenner mayor Ben Zahn has backed off his decision to ban the purchase of all Nike products in the city....“Acting upon advice from the city attorney, I have rescinded my memorandum of September 5, 2018,” Zahn said at an afternoon press conference. “That memorandum divided our city"
