Glenn Beck taking trailer loads of food, water, soccer balls to border

The Blaze: Saying 'We must open our hearts,' Beck announces major border event in Texashttp://www.theblaze.com/stories/201...n-beck-announces-major-border-event-in-texas/http://www.theblaze.com/stories/201...n-beck-announces-major-border-event-in-texas/

Glenn Beck on Tuesday announced that he will be bringing tractor-trailers full of food, water, teddy bears and soccer balls to McAllen, Texas on July 19 as a way to help care for some of the roughly 60,000 underage refugees who have crossed into America illegally in 2014.

Beck said he will be joined by Senator Mike Lee (R-Utah), Congressman Louie Gohmert (R-Texas), and a number of pastors and rabbis.

“Through no fault of their own, they are caught in political crossfire,” Beck said of the children. “And while we continue to put pressure on Washington and change its course of lawlessness, we must also help. It is not either, or. It is both. We have to be active in the political game, and we must open our hearts.”
You liberals love to yammer and harp on us because "you don't want to do anything to help," but you also do nothing -- other than, of course, yammering and harping.

Well, get off your collective butts and report to McAllen next week. Glenn Beck's got some work for you to do.

Now, having said that and wishing to be fair, many conservatives are just as bad. Beck was vilified for his predictions that al-Qaeda in Iraq and other terrorist organizations wanted to form a caliphate in the Mideast. Now that ISIS has done just that and wants more, few are apologizing or admitting Beck was right.

He's been saying on his radio program the last few weeks that the Border Kids are victims and need compassion. Now it's his supporters who are vilifying him as having "betrayed the Republic. Beck responds in The Blaze article:
“Everybody is telling me I’m seeing subscriptions down; I’m seeing Mercury One donations down,” Beck said, growing emotional. “I’m getting violent emails from people who say I’ve ‘betrayed the Republic.’ Whatever. I’ve never taken a position more deadly to my career than this — and I have never, ever taken a position that is more right than this.”

“We’re going to fill some tractor-trailers with food, with water,” Beck said. “The churches have asked us if we could bring teddy bears and soccer balls, so we’ve loaded up a whole tractor-trailer of nothing but teddy bears and soccer balls. And then I’m going to go serve breakfast and lunch, and I’m going to help unload these trucks, hot meals for 3,000. That’s what we’re doing.”

“We sure could use your help,” Beck continued. “I would like to ask you to donate to MercuryOne.org. If you don’t want to be involved in this, you don’t have to be. You can donate and earmark your money to be for preserving American history; we have a museum to build. … You could do it to help education. … We’re building hospitals. … But all the things that we do, they’re not about politics, because politics is turning us ugly. Politics is the vehicle that is driving us to the fundamental transformation of America.”

“When America stops being good, we are no longer able to be great," Beck concluded.
My wife and I are sending money to Mercury One, Beck's charitable organization. If we could go to McAllen next week, we would, but supporting the effort financially is the next best thing. I would urge us as Christians to have compassion, to love others as Jesus commanded. That doesn't mean loosening the nation's immigration policies or approving of what Obama is doing to this country by fomenting this crisis. That doesn't mean we don't help his other innocent victims, the Border Kids. Beck recently urged us all to abandon politics. I'm beginning to see what he means, and it sounds like a good idea to me.
