I need to find a good, solid marriage book. I saw a few today that looked good in the bookstore, but I want something that would help with communication, getting over grudges, truly loving the spouse, and other similar areas that would overall help and lift up the marriage. Thanks for any inputs:

    Marriage Books Suggestions

    A couple of suggestions:

The Five Love Languages - I can't think of the author (how embarassing -- I have loaned out my copy)

Love & Respect - Dr. Emerson Eggerichs

    Hope these help!

One of the best books I ever read about marriage, as a wife was For Women Only
    http://www.lifewaystores.com/lwstore/product.asp?isbn=141583217X&mscssid=JJDC327F79339JCFNP4PXN1FRP9LDK13

And when the For Men Only came out I bought it for my husband.

The authurs did a professional survey, written by a professional surveyer, and the books were written a s aresult of those surveys. So the information is comeing directly from men and women, what they think and feel, what they need, whats really important to them.
This book made hugh difference in the way I see and understand my husband. It has really made a difference in our marriage.

I read those two Donna mentioned, and I liked them as well. They are written for the "average" couple in mind, not touching on major marital problems that a couple can have. Another one I found great was "Intimate Issues" by Linda Dillow & Lorraine Pintus (find it here - http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/1578561493/104-0570063-6418361?v=glance&n=283155 ) It is mainly written for women, and it is very effective. Talks about many many issues unvolved in marriage, not just the obvious. And there is one I have read that is more for men, but just as good called "Intimate Allies" . You can see it here - http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/0842318240/104-0570063-6418361?v=glance&n=283155

How to be Happy Though Married

A small, inexpensive book that I nearly always give as a wedding gift is How to be Happy Though Married by Tim and Beverly La Haye, writtten back in the 70's, long before the Left Behind series. I think there is an updated edition out now, if I remember correctly.

    Reforming Marriage by Douglas Wilson
Every Man's Marriage by Arturbern and Stokely
    Love and Respect by Eggrich
The Ministry of Marriage by Jim Binney

    All four are good books.
