Google Knows What You Did Last Summer, Now Shows It To You In Google Maps

There was a great outcry and gnashing of teeth over the NSA collecting date on you. They only collected telephone numbers you had called. Companies collect much more information. Does this bother you? Does it bother you that data has and is being collected, not by the government, about all the places you go and visit?

They say that only you can view the data. How long do you believe that will last? How long before that data is collected by hackers?

Today, the Google Maps team launched a feature called “Your Timeline” that is about where you’ve already been. It’s not a social feature, as you’re the only one who sees the information…

But…

…It’s a reminder of how much freaking data Google has on us if we leave all of our defaults on. It’s only available for Android and desktop right now. If you use Google Photos, your pics will appear along with the places you stopped along the way.

Since Google asked me for permission to collect the data when I first turned on my phone, I'm OK with that. I can always shut off locations services if I don't want my physical presence to be tracked. Of course, Google navigation will now longer work. Some features of other apps would be limited.
