As the Peter, Paul and Mary song asks .... When Will They Ever Learn?

INDIANAPOLIS (May 18) -- Indiana Republican Rep. Mark Souder announced Tuesday he would resign from Congress, effective Friday, because he had an affair with a staffer.

The eight-term congressman apologized for his actions but provided no details.

"I am so ashamed to have hurt the ones I love," he said at a news conference in Fort Wayne. "I am sorry to have let so many friends down, people who have worked so hard for me."

Souder's decision could damage the Republicans' chances of holding onto the GOP-leaning district in northeastern Indiana. Souder won a bruising Republican primary on May 4 with 48 percent of the vote and was to face the Democratic candidate who four years ago gave him the toughest challenge since he was first elected in 1994.

Problem is that no one has claimed that the Democrats have some sort of high moral ground while many claim that the Republicans are some how 'better.'

Neither party has a monopoly on wickedness.

Actually, what I hear is that they do have the high ground, since the GOP claims to have "family Values". That makes the GOP sins worse. C.T.Boy HAS said this much, himself.

Perhaps it's time for less Republican brethren, and more Republican sistern in Congress:laugh:

Vote Donna Milo for Congress, running in the Florida 20th Congressional District

At nineteen, I married my high-school sweetheart
In 1984, we were blessed with birth of our son and, a few years later, in 1988, with the arrival of our beautiful daughter.
I thank God every day that my family and loved ones stand by my side
I also thank God daily for living in this great country of ours

Maybe former Rep. Souder can take toe tapping dance lessons from former Senator Craig, or better yet, he can open a marriage counseling service with former New York Governor Spitz. In his spare time, Souder, Vitter, Craig, Foley, Edwards, Ensign, and President Clinton can form a new movement called the immoral majority.

This is just false. On the run up to the 2008 election the Dems and especially Pelosi ran on the culture of corruption on the Republican Party. They most certainly did claim a moral high ground.

Obama ran on an open and transparent government. He most certainly ran on a moral high ground.

Of course the Dems have had scandal after scandal and Obama has not been transparent.

So you have to be not paying attention to one side that you support more make such a statement.

I think of Nathan's rebuke from God towards King David and especially the mention of continuous accusations being brought before God's throne because of David's sin.

That is correct. The Democrats claim the higher moral ground in the area of corruption, while the Republicans claim a higher moral ground in the areas of family and religous values. The Democrats are just as guilty if not more so than the Republicans of pointing fingers and doing the exact same thing. To the American people who are depending on the politicians in power now to lead, an evil heart is an evil heart, it makes no difference which type of evil they major in.

This is just my opinion, but lets face facts. The Lord is patient, but when He says enough, it is over. When He told Saul his reign was over, He was not kidding. Now, the Lord has blessed the United States more than any nation in history. The United States is sliding more and more into evil as time passes. Fifty years ago, we tried to at least hide our sins, same sex relationships and abortion for example, were at least hidden. We have progressed from that, to the sins becoming acceptable, to now, they are the official law of the land. To me, its like not only sinning, but rubbing God's nose in it. Look at it another way. In the OT, God destroyed nations that were a lot less blessed than ours for a lot less sinfulness.

Getting back to the present situation, those who have such a lack of perception of history and current events, that they actually believe and support one of the present day two major parties to the point of making arguments of why one is closer to the Lord than the other. I doubt the Lord considers that a sweet aroma. So which one is more Godly, since they both steal from the American people, cheat, lie, do anything to hold onto political power, belittle the Bible, Christianity, and the Lord, and use issues like abortion, family values, cradle to grave care, promises of free money, not for a reason to serve the people, but to pander for votes. Our present politicians are the lowest form of humanity.

It is amazing, that on a board such as this, with highly educated, for the most part, leaders of the Baptist faith, the such simple and niave opinions come forth.

Rev. Mitchell, you are firm in your beliefs and right on target. We need more like you in positions of leadership.
