Just to be clear, he opposed the first bill because it was loaded with pork projects that had nothing to do with hurricane recovery.

DeSantis recognizes the roll the Federal government has when responding to a natural dragster. That is not socialism.

    peace to you

Yes, it is socialism. I understand why he wants taxpayers in my state of Arkansas and the other states to pay to rebuild his state through increasing the national debt being dumped on the younger generations. But he is most certainly wanting people who are not citizens of Florida to pay the cost of rebuilding his state. Taxes will not be raised to pay for the billions of dollars the cost ends up being and the national debt will increase that much more.

Members of the Duopoly - aka the Republican Party and the Democratic Party - often suffer from severe cases of "political" whiplash. They oppose things that they turn around and support when it is to the advantage of them or their locale, and they support things that they turn around and oppose when it is to the advantage of them or their locale

DeSantis is hardly the first to suffer such a severe case of "political" whiplash, just a current, very prominent one.

And yet you can't rebut my post because it is clear that what I wrote is accurate.

Well...last I saw, it's called the UNITED States of America. A brother down in Sanibel needs some of the tax dollars the feds took from me to help him after a hurricane. Well, I'm good with that. Now, paying a bum to feed his heroin fix, that's another story.

There is no federal warrant in the U.S. Constitution for either expenditure by the federal government. Now I know that the United States left its founding moorings long, long, long, long ago, and that I am just yelling at clouds, but I think someone should occasionally point it out for the record.

"The legislative powers vested in Congress are specified and enumerated in the eighth section of the first article of the Constitution, and it does not appear that the power proposed to be exercised by the bill is among the enumerated powers, or that it falls by any just interpretation within the power to make laws necessary and proper for carrying into execution those or other powers vested by the Constitution in the Government of the United States."

    - from President James Madison's veto message on March 3,1817 March 3, 1817: Veto Message on the Internal Improvements Bill | Miller Center

"A prevalent tendency to disregard the limited mission of this power and duty should, I think, be steadfastly resisted, to the end that the lesson should be constantly enforced that though the people support the Government the Government should not support the people."

    - from President Grover Cleveland's veto message on February 16, 1887 Veto Message | The American Presidency Project (ucsb.edu)

The federal government won't be sending tax dollars collected from you or me; the federal government will be borrowing the money they send and adding it to the national debt burden of the younger generations.

I would have less of an issue with this expenditure(realizing that the strictures of the U.S. Constitution were abandoned long ago) if taxes were raised or spending cut elsewhere to pay for it so that the national debt was not increased.

Yet another bogus thread pushing obviously false propaganda from the Left.

Mr. DeSantis wanted the funding to paid for by shifting funds from wasteful projects. But the Lefties want to turn virtue into malice.
Vote the Dem's out of office, they are thugs, bullies and will say anything.

The hypocrisy is the same regardless of the terminology. The increase to the national debt being loaded upon the younger generations is the same regardless of the terminology. Like I wrote, if the United States government is going to spend money, then raise the taxes or cut other spending to pay for it.

[yelling at clouds] I am sick and tired of us as United States citizens refusing to pay for federal government spending and seemingly thinking that this can just go on and on and on without severe consequences coming down the road, or maybe sooner. [yelling at clouds ended]

I should add that I am aware that the definition of socialism is when government owns and controls the means of production. I am simply going along with using the term as it is generally used in the United States today in common discourse.

Well, as far as the continuous deficient spending, I’ll yell at the clouds with you. 31 trillion and counting will collapse our economy eventually, maybe sooner than later

    peace to you
