Ham was cursed by Noah - after he saw his father without covering.

Do you think that Ham did this on purpose - or did he walk in not knowing
    the condition of his father.

If he did not know - than should he have been cursed? ( Gen 9:25)

Ham was not cursed; his son "Canaan" was.

I don't know if he walked into the room to do this on purpose or not, doesn't say.
If he had just covered his father and walked out, it would have been fine. It seems, IMO that he made fun of his father. Again just my opinion there.

Oh yes, should Canaan have been cursed? Remember that the Bible says "Noah was a JUST MAN" , perfect in his generations and Noah "walked with God". But understand, like many of the other patriarchs, I believe Noah had a "backslidden" episode here. To keep drinking until you pass out in a drunken stupor isn't "walking with God" and cursing your own grandson for something he didn't do is very UNJUST. But hey, the only real perfect man was Jesus.

22 And Ham, the father of Canaan, saw the nakedness of his father, and told his two brethren without.
23 And Shem and Japheth took a garment, and laid it upon both their shoulders, and went backward, and covered the nakedness of their father; and their faces were backward, and they saw not their father’s nakedness.
24 ¶ And Noah awoke from his wine, and knew what his younger son had done unto him.

Did Ham just see his father or did he do something to him? "and knew what his younger son had done unto him." I have seen it suggested that he mutilated his father.
