If I were you, I'd be more upset that they aren't teaching you how to spell or use proper grammer.Originally posted by 4-christ:
This bothers me they let Harry Potter movies to be showen in my school but they will not let the left behind movie be showen in school. Why is that just because its a christian movie it still should be showen in school. I love jesus so much!
I think it would depend on why they're shown. My daughter's high school literature class has shown both the first Harry Potter and Left Behind in class, since it's a literature class and they're both based on contemporary literature.Originally posted by 4-christ:

Sorry, that ain't so. The only thing that comes close to that is that there's the name of one histprical figure in it (Nicholas Flamel was a real person who speant his life trying to make gold out of base metals). That's pretty much the extent of the "realism". I have yet to find any real quiddich game, or for that matter find any real wiccan references to flying on broomsticks.Originally posted by Servent:
What I mean is that when the author did research for the movie she put some things in the movie that come directly from witchcraft.
Maybe I am missing your point, but are you "for" Harry Potter or "against" Harry Potter?Originally posted by dr396:
Yes, I would agree with the above post about Left Behind. I, for one, am glad they don't show it in schools. As for Harry Potter I think it has been blown out of proportion. I watched the movies and so do many in my Hard-core Reformed Baptist Church. I heard recently that J.K. Rowling is a member of the Church of Scotland and that her fav author is C.S. Lewis. If it all comes out that Harry Potter is a type of allegory like C.S. Lewis books are (remember he used magic-type themes as well in his books), then Christians are going to look mighty stupid when they want to support them. Also, you can check out some recently published books about the series by Christian authors who claim that Harry Potter literally means "Son of the Potter," that his birth narrative is remotely symbolic, and that the Latin phrases used by Harry and others when 'spells' are cast are common phrases found in Augustine and other Christian authors. I am not sure what the book is called, but one which was released last year has made a significant impact on how many are viewing the series. I think it is by the same guy who did "Finding God in the Lord of the Rings." I may be wrong. If you do a google search you will likely come up with it.

Go to any christian book store a get the book Harry Potter it will give you some facts most people dont know.Originally posted by dr396:
I believe Harry Potter (for now at least) is amoral. People have jumped on the author and she has stated that she does not practice witchcraft or encourage others to do the same. It is a fantasy story. I know of no kids who want to do witchcraft as a result. Do you know anyone who wanted to be a witch after The Wizard of Oz came out? So I would rather be neutral until all facts are known. I am hoping that it is true that she is using these books as a type of Christian allegory. I will say that I have seen the movies (though I don't read fiction unless it is C.S. Lewis) and I enjoyed them and felt no demonic forces around me as a result.

Isn't the Harry Potter series related to a druid tradition, or am I in the same boat as Phillip, btw, Phillip, how are you doing lately, haven't had anyone to argue with and having withdrawals, my wife won't argue, I messed up and bought her some new cast iron skillets, can't argue with her no more, no more, no moreMaybe I am missing your point, but are you "for" Harry Potter or "against" Harry Potter?
Maybe I just can't read today for some reason. (or at least understand what I read.)
