I certainly agree with the statement that the Bush administration was controlled by the Neo-Cons and that their moves were planned in advance by Far Right think tanks. This even went down to the recognition by Paul Wolfowitz of the Center for a New American Century that it would take a "new Pearl Harbor" to get the American people to support the invasion of Iraq which was their stated objective as far back as 1990 I believe. 9/11 fit the bill quite nicely.

However, I would be hard pressed to argue that President Obama is a Neo-Con or that he is guided by their principles.

Actions speak louder than words. Has Obama kept his promise to pull all troops out of Iraq within 16 months of being elected as he promised many times in his campaign?

And what is he doing in Afghanistan? Increasing troop strength.

Uh...wasn't that after taking office? And even the election is less than a year ago.

Tom apparently thinks the global arms traders in Washington that hold so much influence over foreign policy would like nothing better than to work themselves out of a job by ending the "enduring global war on terror" quickly rather than continuing to make billions and billions and billions of dollars by keeping it going forever.

Now that really is worth laughing over!

Where'd you ever get a silly idea like that I wonder Tom? Did you hear it from G. Dubya and the Carlyle group?

But since the start of the "war on terrorism", the firm - unofficially valued at $3.5bn - has taken on an added significance. Carlyle has become the thread which indirectly links American military policy in Afghanistan to the personal financial fortunes of its celebrity employees, not least the current president's father. And, until earlier this month, Carlyle provided another curious link to the Afghan crisis: among the firm's multi-million-dollar investors were members of the family of Osama bin Laden. SOURCE

You might have forgotten that G. Dubya's daddy was in business with Osama's daddy but I haven't.

    Cui Bono?

Enduring GWOT = Enduring money, money, money, money!

Usama says, "hey gullible American infidels don't you even dare wait to increase defense spending another minute because I might just decide to raise myself up from the dead and get you all yet! Boo! Ha Ha Ha Ha!"

    Money, money, money, money, money!

Just compare him to Bush who invaded both countries for reasons he never could quite come up with.

Ya see this is where people get needlessy confused and emotional. They try and blame all our problems on this president or that administration when in fact it's the system itself that is to blame.

We can go on forever comparing this one to that one but what does it solve in the end? Stop focusing on the puppets and concentrate on the puppet masters.

Maybe this will help. Chalmers Johnson on Our ‘Managed Democracy’

    Maybe not.

    Yeah I know that.

You notice that no one wants to discuss this? Oh they'll throw in a chide remark or toss out the "C" word to make themselves feel justified or maybe less guilty about buying into all the emotionally charged racism and the glorious red white and blue propaganda that calls them to sacrifice their blood and treasure around the world so a few top corporations can continue to profit and expand their global markets.

They think of this as patriotism.

But none of them care to talk about the corporate take over of the media, government and military. We live in a corporate fascist state and Osama Bin Lazarus and his merry band of cave dwellers are it's top salespeople. The GWOT was never about fighting terrorism or keeping us safe from the MIC's top salesmen like Bin Lazarus and Al CIA duh. It's about money, power and control.

    Napoleon once said,

"All men are enamored of decorations...they positively hunger for them."

So by developing the Napoleonic system – the medal business – the government learned it could get soldiers for less money, because the boys liked to be decorated. Until the Civil War there were no medals. Then the Congressional Medal of Honor was handed out. It made enlistments easier. After the Civil War no new medals were issued until the Spanish-American War.

In the World War, we used propaganda to make the boys accept conscription. They were made to feel ashamed if they didn't join the army.

So vicious was this war propaganda that even God was brought into it. With few exceptions our clergymen joined in the clamor to kill, kill, kill. To kill the Germans. God is on our side...it is His will that the Germans be killed.

And in Germany, the good pastors called upon the Germans to kill the allies...to please the same God. That was a part of the general propaganda, built up to make people war conscious and murder conscious.

Beautiful ideals were painted for our boys who were sent out to die. This was the "war to end all wars." This was the "war to make the world safe for democracy." No one mentioned to them, as they marched away, that their going and their dying would mean huge war profits. No one told these American soldiers that they might be shot down by bullets made by their own brothers here. No one told them that the ships on which they were going to cross might be torpedoed by submarines built with United States patents. They were just told it was to be a "glorious adventure."

Thus, having stuffed patriotism down their throats, it was decided to make them help pay for the war, too. So, we gave them the large salary of $30 a month.

All they had to do for this munificent sum was to leave their dear ones behind, give up their jobs, lie in swampy trenches, eat canned willy (when they could get it) and kill and kill and kill...and be killed. SOURCE

Edward Bernays was one those who helped stuff this patriotism down their throats. Below is what he said in 1928.

If the public mind could be so easily manipulated way back then, think of how easy it must be today with all our technological and scientific advancements. Oh but then I'm constantly reminded that's it's crazy to think wealthy powerful men in high places would conspire together to gain more wealth, power and control, even though it's been the norm throughout history.
