    Yussef Alwali, 19, from Basildon is due to appear in custody at Barkingside Magistrates’ Court today (Tuesday, October 20) charged with religiously aggravated criminal damage.

    A cross was ripped off the roof of Chadwell Heath Baptist Church in High Road at about 2.40pm on Sunday, October 18.

    Several years ago, local M:slims stole words off our church sign (“Jesus is God”) and left a pamphlet on Isl:m in our door.

    We responded by quoting scripture on the sign (“M:slim, thou shall not steal, may Jesus forgive you”) which they stole as well.

    We reported the theft to the local sheriff, the deputy told me they had received complaints about our sign and that we were being provocative.

    I doubt he even took our report since he took no notes or any relevant information.

    These types of incidents will escalate against Christians if the current culture’s targeting of Christians beliefs continues.
