    Revelation

Nothing of note to report for the book of Jude.

    Revelation

    16:5

H : for You have decided

T : because you have so judged

Net : because you have passed these judgments

NRSV : for you have judged these things

NLTse : because you have sent these judgments

["Decided" is too weak. That's what I have decided.]

    21:3

    H : God's dwelling is with men

T : God's dwelling place is now among the people

REB : and God himself will be among them

NRSV : and God himself will be with them

[ "With men" is too old-fashioned.]

The following references have a more literal word or phrase in the text of TNIV.The HCSB had a more dynamic rendering:13:16;14:20;16:20;17:7 and 18:24.

    From The Book Of James

Just a reminder for those with the subject of gender-inclusiveness on their mind.

    Down to 4 mos. now!

    (The decline continues.)

If you're not real careful, you're liable to get to a current 'live' thread, even.

Better watch it, Rippon. You're definitely on a "slippery slope" at this rate. :p

I have before me James White's book :The God Who Justifies. On page 334 he specifically deals with 2:14 of James, but I think his words are meant for wider application to the whole book.

[The NET takes the plural masculine as a generic plural for the entire Christian congregation("Brothers and sisters"),recognizing that the words of James apply equally to men and women.]

Now James White is a conservative, complementarian Calvinist. It would be absurd to say he has feminist-leanings. Those kinds of reckless potshot remarks are common on the BB.But it doesn't wash with the truth. And it is sinful to attribute such a characterization to those who have no fondness for the movement as Bible-believing Christians.
