My point is that Obama can and should nominate someone. Republicans don't have to approve his choice. Let the process play out. I don't see how anyone can expect Obama to pass up the opportunity to nominate a replacement.

OK?? Good for you. I do not have a problem with you holding to that view.

If Obama plays this nomination right like you mentioned, it'll play out like a Greek tragedy for the GOP.

I think they showed their hands too soon. They could have just not said anything and filibustered till he got out of office.

Now he has the opportunity to really damage the GOP brand by showing folks just how obstructionist they are based upon the person he nominates. This could get really ugly for the GOP if Obama wants to go in that direction.
