Homeless Veteran Sues Fundraisers for Keeping His Money | Breitbart

The homeless veteran who is back under a bridge just months after a couple raised $400,000 for him is suing the couple for reportedly keeping his money.

Johnny Bobbitt, who made headlines last Thanksgiving for offering New Jersey resident Kate McClure his last $20 when her vehicle ran out of gas in a rough Philadelphia neighborhood, is suing McClure and her boyfriend for allegedly spending what remains of a $400,000 GoFundMe account the couple created for his benefit, the Philadelphia Inquirer reported.

Apparently the homeless guy was using some of what he was given to buy drugs and he was giving some to relatives. He wasn't really using it to help himself.

there's something off about this whole story - for one thing, what kind of addict gives his last twenty dollars to a couple of strangers? And this couple have a gambling addiction of their own and they used this bum's name to raise over 400ki, yet won't give him the money because he doesn't know how to spend it right? The suckers were giving it to the homeless guy, not them.

Could be a set up from the beginning with all of them being scammers, why gofundme ought to be renamed gofleeceyou.

Here's betting that, after he gets the money, it won't be long before he's broke and homeless again.

I have never had any involvement with any gofundme account until quite recently when a Hispanic family (mother and 5 children) our Bible Fellowship Group 'adopted' a few years ago is in need of a new mobile home; the 25-year old one the class (before I was in it) had helped them to get by funding the down payment is starting to fall apart. They asked me to write their story, so I did. But in these 3 weeks or so, I have become aware that gofundme is apparently quite questionable-- often used to fund the defense of illegal aliens or others who commit crimes, for example, because the incidents have gained national press, and many then contribute. But our case is not one of national media, so we have only raised a few hundred of the $50,000 goal to get them a new trailer plus expenses of moving it and hauling off the old one, and more expenses

The guy in this story seems to be conducting a How To class in making all one's retirement money in a few weeks or months by passing off as a homeless veteran in need that catches somebody's eyes who will start such an account for him.
