Honorary Degrees

    The U.S. government views the M.D. as a professional degree along with the J.D.

    The D.Min., however, is viewed by the government as a research degree on par with the Ph.D.

    Some schools that offer the D.Min. refer to the D.Min. degree as a professional degree, however.

    The evangelist Luis Palau is sometimes call Dr. Palau. But his is a honorary title, not an earned degree. I think his formal education is only 1 year at Multnomah.

    This is what his official bio says:

    St.Alban's is a High School, not a College, American style.

    For example this is one of his books acording to ECPA

    There are a lot of problems now days with fake degrees. In January, a US News report quoted an FBI agent as saying that the top five "fake degree companies" average $22 million per year for each company.

    With all of these problems, why don't the schools offer "honorary certificates" or "honorary chair" or something else?
