The World Bible Publishing 'Short Dictionary of Life and Peoples of Bible Times' gives the following description under the Semites entry: a group of nations, who, starting about 3000BC, appeared in Western Asia, south of modern Armenia and west of Iran. Semite nations included Babylonians, Assyrians, Syrians, Canaanites, Isrealites, Ammonites, Moabites and Edomites.

Hence all the arrests of pastors and Christians in Canada. Help us Americans, we are being persecuted by the government up here!

Wait a minute, none of what you said about Canada is true. If that is what Christians in Canada are telling you, why would they lie? If that is what Christians in the US think is happening in Canada, why would they make stuff up? I guess lies sell better than the truth.

The truth is that there is an explicitly stated exception to the law so that religious groups can preach that homosexuality is a sin without it being considered a hate crime.

Yea and in spite of it one man was fined for taking out an ad in which it showed two men holding hands with an x accross them and Bible verses printed next to it. Both the man and the newspaper were fined. The crazy thing is it was only references, so if anyone wanted to be offended they actually had to pull their Bible out and look up the verses. Apparently that sentence is no real protection. Also, doctor Laura was hounded of the radio there.

You had all of your handguns taken away.

You let any terrorist into your country that wants to get in.

Who are you trying to KID?

Many have used the bible to promote hate. That man is one example and was rightly fined. I remember the story was a bumper sticker. After hearing your version, I'm wondering if it is just an urban legend.

As for the radio show, the government was not involved in that case. Private radio corporations have a right to choose their content and get rid of their content if the message disagrees their target audience or if it brings negative publicity to their company.

Please clarify my understanding here; are you saying that giving references to scripture, that support your view, "promotes hate"?

The first should be illegal. The second should be legal.

It was not an urban legend.

But the govenment in Canada is capable of and has created an environment in which free speech is stifeld, at least for Concervatives and Christians. If a company feel that it will have to answer to the human right tribunal or whatever you call it, that company will also supress speech.

The fear wasn't a human rights tribunal but lost of advertising dollars.

Companies in the US have this right and cancel controversial content regularly as well.

Gold Dragon, Can't you see what a slippery slope this is. Can't you see the probabilty for abuse.
Besides, all you have to do is watch one of the alternative lifestyle channels or attend a homosexual political event to hear true hate speech.

Not as regularly or as dogmatically as Canadian companies do. We may have this happen sometimes, but there is extreem diversity of thought on our radios and TV.

I see the slippery slope of not having such legistlation and letting hate-filled religious folks use scripture to justify the persecution of others who disagree with them. Wait, that has already happened countless times throughout history.

As for your slippery-slope, talk to me when the laws in Canada have actually been abused in that fashion. I'll be right there fighting for our religious freedoms here.

I've never seen such channels or political events.

You seem very up-to-date on what is being broadcasted and cancelled on Canadian radio and television. I didn't realize New Mexico gets either.

I wish. Toronto is having its worst spree of shooting murders in decades.

Please list terrorists that got into Canada.
Please list terrorists that got into the US.

    Compare said lists.

    Gold Dragon,

My understanding is alot of terrorist who get into the country (US) did it via Canada.

The handguns were taken away from legal and good citizens. The criminals still get the guns, and they always will.

I think I am more comfrotable with the Rattlesnakes and Scorpians here, than the government and its tribunals there. This info comes mostly from Christian sources, Dr. Dobson and others. But the Dr. Laura thing was national news.

Homosexuals are constantly accusing Christians of hate. They went so far as to accuse Dr. Dobson of causing the Matthew Shepard murder. Even though the two young men involved were not active Christians. Why do you think that these new laws will not be used to persecute Christians?
