Being a retired military person (23+ years in the USAF/ANG), I'm very concerned about the direction that this administration is pursuing with regard to our nation's military.
I'm not opposed to cutting some things that probably ought to be cut when there's waste that needs to be eliminated in these tight times.
OTOH, our nation's commander in chief is determined to gut our military's morale to the very core.
When one cuts the very benefits that were promised our military's brave men and women, there remains little incentive to retain the kind of people our modern-day military demands: Very highly skilled and technically capable people who can fight and win the type of warfare that confronts us today.
We need to be very realistic with this situation.
Why should a young person want to put his or her life on the line (and that's exactly what they do when they raise their hand and swear to "protect and defend" our Constitution from all enemies, foreign and domestic), when our leaders at both ends of PA Ave are unwilling to give them the pay and benefits these brave men and women that they justly deserve?
I'm deeply upset over the trend that I see with regard to the disrespect that our officials on both sides of the aisle continue to have for our armed forces.
