It would seem from the poll that the BB has been a help to many on it, on the other hand a sampling of 10 pollsters would be hard pressed to serve as good random sampling. Should other categories have been added?thjplgvp

How about "None of the above"? I'm the same person I've been for years. As a man who has been a child of God for nearly 44 years, being on a Christian Website isn't going to make all that much difference. One thing I have learned though from being in Websites and chatting with people is to keep my mouth shut since people are so easily offended. I've learned not to be quick to voice my opinion or beliefs since only those who agree with me care to read if. However, I learned that before coming here. All others want to argue that I'm wrong. I've been called a bigot for standing against sin, which I thought God wanted us to do.

    Well Jon,

Look at it this way, though you have learned nothing here on the BB your seven posts per day allow us to pertake of your wisdom gained through your years of experience and your biblical knowledge.

I was asked to come onto BB in 2001 to help with the now defunct evolution/creation forum. Later I became moderator there and on the private women's forum and the public women's forum. During those years I totally learned to appreciate the other moderators! High on my list of people appreciated are the two Barnabuses (Barnabi?), the old webmaster and Mr. Halo. It was moderating there and on CARM, which I had quit in exhaustion earlier that year, that I realized that an awful lot of people really don't care what the truth is, they only want support for what they already believe. I found that incredibly frustrating.

And then I began to think about how God must feel about us...

I quit moderating here when we were getting ready to move to Oregon from California and there simply wasn't enough time. I think that the ev/cr forum shut down shortly after that. It was a very high maintenance forum and required hours daily to control the animosity which was almost always there.

Since then, as a normal person here, I have had the chance to not only make some wonderful friends, but the time to encourage some of the other women. I have also had the time to really dig into the Bible regarding some of the topics that have been brought up, so it has definitely increased the depth of some of my Bible studies. As a result, I have become more sure of what I believe, and why.

And the -- ahem -- "few" times I have been wrong have definitely served to increase my humility and given me the opportunity to tell someone else he or she is right and I have been wrong.

And I have had the time to laugh uproarously over some of the humor that has been posted.

Have I become thicker skinned here? No, that happened on CARM! But I was shocked here to find out how nasty some people who claim Christ can be. That continues to be a source of pain in my heart.

Still, all in all, I have really enjoyed my time here and this is as good a time as any to thank, again, all the moderators and the webmaster. You guys done good!

Stupid me... I miss the delete, and go right to submit!!!

I used to be a shy, very shy person...
I would never speak up to voice my opinion.

After spending 4 yrs on BB... I am not that shy anymore..
    I have a tougher shell.

I used to also worry about what others think of me.
    Now I don't...
As long as God is happy, I don't care what other "Baptists" think of me.

I used to get bent out of shape... Ok, I still do sometimes....but I am getting better.
I have found that when I am confronted by what I deem as a false doctrine, I go into "education mode" Instead of arguing, I have been asking questions....
I may still deem it as a heretical false doctrine, but I will at least be educated about it. That way I can fight it when it comes along in real life.

BB also has a way of attracting the most recent, how can I say this, false doctrines. Some of my friends in the real world won't hear about it for months later.... But because I have debated them on BB, when they mention what they hear, I can appear to be smart... and fill them in on the ins and outs of the new "doctrine"

I have found BB to be a source of good advice and good Bible study material....

If you really want to have fun one Bible study night at your church, fire up the computer, go online, and log into BB...
Pull up a thread, and start your discussion.... It will be enlightening!
I have done it... and people loved it.

As a matter of fact I have been working on a forum for our church. So far it is all they are talking about this last week.

It has changed me... I feel for the better... I am no longer afraid to voice my opinion, and disagree with folk.

Shy? Shy? Tim is shy? And here I thought your ability to voice your opinion was due to your time behind the pulpit! Silly me!

And if you say one word about me being a genius in spite of being a woman! Well, you will be in even more trouble young man!

I just think you are a genius...

And yes I am shy. I grew up with a very low self-esteem. I would refuse to speak in church. I helped teach Sunday school, but to get in front of a crowd.... no way!!

I was the most non-confrontational person I knew. I got married because Tabatha, my wife, told me too!!!! NO not really. I was shaking though when I asked her.

Even after I was called to preach, I thanked God for suit Jackets...They would hide the perspiration on my shirt!!!
I never have been sure of myself....

    UNTIL BAPTISTBOARD!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I came on here asking about KJVOism... (it had crept into our association, and as moderator I was trying to find answers)

My first encounter was in the translations section....That should tell you something. That was back when the translation section was still in it's old west stage... it's actually boring now!

Someone fired at me, and I let them have it!
Now we have this pink haired guy here on BB, that is not as shy.
    But hopefully cordial, and gentle.

    Strong, confident, handsome, .....

Oh, wait we were talking about me! lol

    Tim,

I was very shy too growing up. I would about pass out when I had to talk to someone. But I thank my husband for overcoming that. Being married to a salesman and having to force myself to carry on a conversation with people that I didn't know over dinner or a ball game is what changed me. Of course, I'm years older than you and we didn't have the BB then to aid my in coming out of my shyness ;)
