liberals will start to wistfully acknowledge that in a number of respects the George W. Bush administration wasn't so bad after all. When will prominent liberals concede "Ya' know, old #43 was a lot better than we gave him credit for at the time. Now that President Obama is on the job it makes me long for the time when G.W.B. was at the helm. But this is strictly off-the-record;understand?"

I can hear you even now :"Rippon, that'll happen when pigs fly."

    I see three positives concerning the Bush years in office;

    1-The immediate response to 9/11.
    2-His AIDS initiative in Africa
3-The setting aside of the area in the Pacific to save that area.

I won't go into the negatives I see.

What I had meant in my OP was that some notable liberals may openly long for the Bush #43 White House in some respects because of mistakes in the Obama administration.Sometimes liberals (and conservatives are not immune here either)lose perspective during a Rebublican administration. After some time passes within Obama's first (and only)term some folks from the left may yearn for G.W.'s handling of particular matters.

One area that Obama may have trouble with is leaks. He'll have to put a tighter reign over loose lips.

About the same time is always happens... There will always be those people that wish for something in the past.. good or bad, it's just a cycle that will happen over and over again.....

How many people wish Clinton could run again? Or that Bush Sr should have had another 4 years? Or that there will be another Reagan?

It's just a political cycle.. nothing more, nothing less.

Mr. Bush was born in Maine and he didn't have a clue where Prince Edward Island was!!!!! He also ignored Canada when our government refused to go to Iraq!!!!!

He didn't even appreciate we are the largest trade partner and best neighbour the US could ask for.

    Cheers,

    Jim

President Bush was born in the USA - not Canada. A lot of people don't know their own country's geography all that well much less their neighbors.

Does every official in Canada know exactly where every State of the USA is located? Does President-elect Obama know all the states of Mexico? I doubt it!

Canada should have gone to Iraq. It was the right thing to do. You chose to stand apart from us and that's too bad.

I also haven't forgotten that Canada harbored deserters and draft dogers from our military during the Viet Nam war. That never has set well with me.

Never the less, Canadians are still our good neighbors to the North and we do have a lot in common. But I think the cold weather does something to you and many of you would really like to move South.

However, for someone from Maine to not know where PEI, or NB is located is like an Okie not knowing where Texas is. :tongue3:

Even if the world ends because of Obama I will not long for the Bush years but when you stack these years against all the years I have lived these were on par for the nation.

Then it must have been Maine where he got his drinking driving charge!

I know he was born next door to the Maritime Provinces.
A lot of Canadian and American Maritimers inter-married.

    Cheers,

    Jim

It seems a few of us didn't know where President Bush was actually born - not Maine after all - and not withstanding the fact that he's lived in Texas most of his life.

You might be amazed at how well most Canadians know about the states..........shucks, we help to finance Florida and Arizona in the winter.

We took back LBJ so I see no reason not to welcome back another Bush. He took a hard stand on some issues - the right one albeit unpopular - and history will eventually acknowledge that.

I'm sure many will be happy to send Obama back to Chicago when his time in office is over. He's in for some hard lessons when he finally realizes that his grand ideas for "change" don't work out so well. History will acknowledge that as well.
