Ah yes, the words of the prophet Isaiah:

    Isa 1:16
    Wash you, make you clean; put away the evil of your doings from before mine eyes; cease to do evil;
Isa 1:17 Learn to do well; seek judgment, relieve the oppressed, judge the fatherless, plead for the widow.
Isa 1:18 Come now, and let us reason together, saith the LORD: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool.
Isa 1:19 If ye be willing and obedient, ye shall eat the good of the land:
Isa 1:20 But if ye refuse and rebel, ye shall be devoured with the sword: for the mouth of the LORD hath spoken it.

"Remember the word that I (Jesus) said unto you, The servant is not greater than his lord. If they have persecuted me, they will also persecute you;if they have kept my (Jesus) saying, they will keep yours (Disciples) also. (John 15:20)

What is the matter, Steaver? Do you not accept God's Word?

Isaiah wrote those words for the Lord and he said "Woe is me, for I am a man of unclean lips". So do you have a point HP? Is Isaiah following God or not with his unclean lips?

Sure. What do you think of Isaiah saying "woe is me, for i am a man of unclean lips"? Was he following God?

God says to stop sinning. Why then do you want to keep asking others if they sin? Why do you want to point out the sins the Prophets? How do you think that changes God's word?
Whenever someone here speaks of stopping sin, you are quick to jump on them for it. Why is that?

Gotta get to bed guys. Maybe you two could pray and ask God to reveal to you why Isaiah said he was a man of unclean lips IF he was a man following God?

While you are at it, you could ask Him why Moses, David, Noah, Abraham all had sin while following God.

I think the premise Steaver is driving at is this:

Some seem to say that Christians are those who stop sinning.

He, and many others, myself included, see scriptures of people who seem to be believers, and also seem to be acknowledging sin in their lives. So we see a disconnect and would like to hear your explaination of this seeming disconnect.

PS...Wecome back H.P...I'm still waiting on a PM response from you:thumbs:

Remember, I never argued that the scriptures do not tell us to repent from sins. That is not the issue. You two need to learn the full scope of what sin is. It goes beyond the big ten.

HP: I found this comment on the site of an administrator of this board. Now while I believe the word 'idiot' does not apply to any on this list, I could certainly find a few less offensive words I could insert in this comment in place of 'idiot' that certainly would apply. :saint:

"The beginning of the word of the LORD by Hosea. And the LORD said to Hosea, Go, take unto thee a wife of whoredoms and children of whoredoms: for the land hath committed great whoredom, [departing] from the LORD." (Hosea 1:2)

What do you think about God telling Hosea to go marry a whore? How are the people suppose to listen to a prophet who appears to be sinning against God? Was Hosea sinning by marrying this whore?

Of course, we know that not sinning goes beyond the Ten Commandments.

Do you understand that not loving Christ perfectly or not loving your wife perfectly is sin?

I would not know how to love if it were not for Jesus.

I have purified myself by obeying the truth so that I have sincere love; I love my family deeply, from the heart.

    See 1 Peter 1:22.

This statement does not say anything about the rest that our souls will gain if we come to Jesus. This is about persecution that believers have to undergo since their Master underwent same.

WRONG. It says what it says, you are rejecting Jesus' word on this matter.

Amen! Wonderful! However, this has nothing to do with the fact I presented.

Do you love Christ perfectly? Do you love your wife perfectly? If not, it is sin. Thus, I can honestly and humbly say that I sin everyday and thank God for His grace and love for me. If you would be honest and humble, you would say the same.
