Rollins: Huckabee Can Fill Reagan's Shoes

"Governor Huckabee has probably inspired me as much as Ronald Reagan did," Rollins said after being introduced by Huckabee at a press conference here. "I've looked a long time to find a candidate like that...A lot of people walk around talking about the Reagan days and the next Reagan. I was with the old Reagan and I can promise you that this man comes as close as anyone to filling those shoes."

I understand his tax policies are not too conservative, and most certainly his views on illegal immigration is way off base.

My choice is Duncan, but for a front runner, I support Thompson

While not a Huckabee expert by any stretch, I just don't see the immediate Reagan comparison. Thompson seems more Reagan-like (spare the actor quips) than any of the rest of the lemmings. Tancredo is close in policies. The likes of Rudy, McCain, Paul, and Romney don't even come close.

I appreciate Huckabee's willingness to embrace bold tax reform and his staunch vocal support of life.

The two closest to the Goldwater-Reagan legacy are Ron Paul and Fred Thompson.

Mike "release Wayne Dumond, raise taxes, fund illegal aliens" Huckabee is not even in the ball park.

Ed Rollins did not help Jack Kemp much back in 1988 when I worked as a county chairman for his campaign, so I doubt that he will be of much help to Tax-Hike Mike in this campaign.

Gotta love your political savvy!!! What a way to put a bad spin on Huckabee with just a few words.. .you should be in Politics!!
    At least a campaign manager...

    Now to the OP....
There will never be anyone like Reagan... Never...

And I don't think we need a Reagan.. Reagan was for the 80s...
WE need someone for today. Someone that is not afraid to speak the truth.. someone like Mike.... He is the least Politically Correct candidate out there.. it may get him into situations, but people respect a person that is real..

Washington has had it's share of acting politicians... They play the part but never get anything done.. if you are not tired of the acting, go ahead and elect an actor...

But if you want a real man... elect Mike.

The media underestimated Christians in 04... remember, they couldn't understand what happened hours after the election, then they figured out it was us social conservatives that had the most impact...

Sure the liberals are the loudest, but the real men and women, working hard to put food on the table, and the God fearing folk of the Country, know we need a man that will be able to stand his ground, and not back down. And Huckabee is that man...

    Ok, fire back...

Anyone other than Giuliani, Romney or a Democrat will do.

Im not sold on the comparison to Reagan either. Thompson seems more like Reagan and I would be happier if he was in Huckabees situation right now. He needs to step things up, or he is going to be left behind. However, I would be happy with Huckabee or just about anyone other than Hillary.

No way, I do not want Hillary under any circumstance. I would take Obama or any other Democrat before her.

If I were to vote for a republican for president, it certainly wouldn't be someone who was like Reagan. I don't consider him to be one of our best presidents, although he wasn't a bad one, I think he is somewhat overrated.
