Hugo Chavez Dead

Some say that oil from Venezuela has a high sulphur content and is difficult to refine--I don't know. Maybe I shouldn't say it but I boycott Citgo, the outlet for Venezuelan oil. Latin America is difficult for Protestant missionaries because many nations have governments closely intertwined with Catholicism, as you know. All of Latin America is nearly 100% Catholic. Catholicism in areas like Latin America really does not believe in religious freedom. Latinos believe in papa government and don't have the concept that if you don't work you don't eat.
With El Loco gone, hopefully opposition forces will be able to elect a President to restore a free market. There are rumors of many missing people in the last 14 years. People are afraid to talk and do not like to even think about Chavez.
We know that El Loco was trying to overthrow Colombian government with his aid to FARC, a communist operation in the jungles of Colombia. El Loco also controlled Evo Morales, President of Bolivia and a drug grower, as well as having great influence in Ecuador with their leftist president Rafael Correa, not to mention the Castros in Cuba and perhaps Daniel Ortega in Nicaragua.
I know that I have said this before but there is something about corporals who become rulers: Napoleon Bonaparte, Adolf, and El Loco Hugo Chavez.

How bizarre that he is called a dictator!!! Because he stood up to the oil greedy nations and the top 2% of the mega rich, who permitted the people to live in squalor.....The man is dead,RIP......and I shall certainly pray that the Venezulan people get a government that is pro the people not just pro the fat cats.
As with all leaders of any country there will be people who are happy he is gone and others who ard sad he is gone. I expect the same is true in countries all around the world.

I am finding it hard to believe that anyone praises El Loco. You would think that all the missing people, all the media outlets closed, all the property confiscated by the state, all the attacks on Catholicism, and all the repression would convince people that Venezuela is a police state. People in Venezuela are so terrorized that they are afraid to speak out in public. If you are pure Spanish, you are a target.
Even Amnesty International, hardly a conservative organization, admits to missing people, arbitrary arrests, shootings and crimes against the mildest protestors. Just search human rights abuse in Venezuela on the internet. Where were you when tv stations were closed in Caracas?

So the murders of innocent Venezuelans as reported by Amnesty International and other non-conservative sources do not matter? Evo Morales was a drug grower before Hugo made him President of Bolivia. The fact of the matter is that Cuba, Nicaragua, Bolivia, and Venezuela are all unsafe for almost everyone not a communist. You might throw in Rafael Correa of Ecuador as sympathetic to Chavez.

It seems that if you take the property of others and abuse the human rights of many and shut down the media and call your clergy fascist but you pass out some welfare, you are a hero to the left.

It looks like the left is trying to rewrite history before it gets out of the gate good.
Revmitchell, Americans are naïve and callous to disregard the mountain of evidence of the brutality of this murderous thug Hugo Chavez. The fact that he bankrolled a big gang of lower class people in Caracas and gave them red shirts and red berets does not make him a populist. This gang gave him protection. Drug Lord gangster Pablo Escobar acted the same way in Medellin, Colombia.
So many people were murdered by Chavez or simply disappeared that the people of Venezuela are terrorized by their own government. Years ago tv stations, radio stations and newspapers and magazines were shut down. Property was taken at will. Hugo started as a corporal like Bonaparte and Adolf and ended up with 2 billion dollars.
Revmitchell, people should search the internet using the terms human rights abuse Venezuela before they start re-writing history.
