I blame the Road Runner

I saw a coyote going off into the brush on the side of the road as I was driving by yesterday. No sign of the roadrunner.

When my youngest was about 6, he said “look dad, there’s a dog in the back yard”. I went out. It was a full grown coyote. Maybe some kind of mix because it looked huge! Very distinctive elongated snout. It had gotten inside our fenced backyard somehow and when I came out, it crawled over the fence in the corner of the yard.

I’ve seen them in farm fields around the area, but never so close.

I remember walking a trail near the LA river in Long Beach. The path ran down one side of a water filled green belt, and then swung over and returned up the other side. As we were walking down the first leg, we saw a healthy coyote "slinking" up the other side. The animal's gate was so "wiley coyote" like I was surprised.
