The original form was seen as an effort to skirt the rule against using members' names in thread titles.

I can assure you it, in fact, was.

This is political correctness and "leftistism" ( I like to coin humorous terms LOL) gone too far. A few in higher power with vested interests and political power (or desiring such power) like to rile up the common people like puppets usually playing on their sense of "being oppressed" or discriminated in some way. And to heck with someone else's rights as long as it agrees with the knee-jerk vocalists.

I never displayed the Confederate battle flag but I used to display the Union Jack on the front of my car but not no longer. I don't want to be a Pavlov's bell when St. Andrew's Cross would probably be enough to cause a stir and to heck with the stars. In fact, I'm not so sure the protesters even know the difference from them let alone their history.

Correct, you would only be inviting smashed windows then a torched car from the practitioners of peace.

In all fairness, I've had a Confederate flag sticker on my truck for thirty years and it's never been tampered with. Of course, maybe that's because it's right next to a sticker that says "Driver is armed. There is nothing in this vehicle worth your life."

Do you live North or South of the Mason-Dixon line?

Why is the Union Jack offensive?

It has a resemblance to the Confederate Flag.

I don't find it offensive, but because of its overuse in punk rock (actual punk, not that pop nonsense the kids call punk today), I just find it cliched.

Politics aside, they kind of became a laughing stock when they had hackey sack competitions on. Just the other night, they had the bean bag toss championship on. It's called something else, but I'm not entirely comfortable saying it here.

I watch football on ESPN, mostly because I have no choice. But I really do miss the days when Saturday and Sunday were devoted to fishing shows. I miss Jose Uribe, Hank Parker, and all of those guys.

The sad thing is I could fly the real Confederate Flag and none of the "protesters" would know what it was.

Furthermore the US was originally "the Confederation" as we were originally organized under the Articles of Confederation. We did not get the Constitution until 1789.

I fly the blood stained banner properly known as the "Third National."

I was not saying the union Jack is offensive. I don't find the Confederate battle flag offensive, either. I was being somewhat sardonic by implication that the gut-reaction protesters don't know the difference. I would not want to drive in Charlottesville Va right now with a Union Jack displayed on my car for fear of mistaken identification and rioters all around me. Sad state of affairs.
