    Sorry Terry,

But James tells us faith without works is dead. One cannot just make a profession of faith and continue in sin and expect to enter heaven.

What? Shall we continue in sin that grace may abound? God forbid! How shall we that are dead to sin live any longer therein?

if one says a believer can commit suicide and still get to heaven, one is preaching it. you don't know how many are reading these words

I do not believe that a believer will die with unrepented sin. The Word of God says He chastens whom He loves. That person is chastened until he or she repents if they truly were saved.

by preaching that there is a work we can do that can stop the grace of God. That is not Biblical and very dangerous. What other works can a person do to stop the grace of God?

whew, its gettin' hot in here!

I just cant believe that a believer has never died with any unconfessed sin, even a little bitty white lie or exxaggeration.

James 2:14 What [doth it] profit, my brethren, though a man say he hath faith, and have not works? can faith save him?

James 2:17 Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone.

James 2:18 Yea, a man may say, Thou hast faith, and I have works: shew me thy faith without thy works, and I will shew thee my faith by my works.

James 2:20 But wilt thou know, O vain man, that faith without works is dead?

James 2:24 Ye see then how that by works a man is justified, and not by faith only.

James 2:26 For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also.

Those verses in James in no way say we keep our salvation by works, which is what you are claiming.

Then it's sad to say that ALL people will go to hell...

    Rom 3:23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;

Now, I don't believe this, and I am sure you don't believe this. We all sin. We all fall short of God's glory, and even the greatest person isn't sinless. There was only one sinless person.

You can't tell me that you know and remember EVERY sin you have committed.

So to say that we are not saved until we repent of our sins sounds alot like the Catholic faith to me. Should I go to a priest now, or can I do it tomorrow?

Standing Firm, I have a friend who is as dear to me as a sister. We have some differences in our beliefs however.

One big one is that she believes if she commits a sin (knowingly or unknowingly) during the day and dies before she has a chance to "confess", that she will die in her sin and go to hell. She calls this business being "prayed up". She sounds a lot like you do in the thread. She uses the same verses to back up her beliefs.

    It can't be both ways.

Either Christ's blood covered all of our sin from beginning to end without any help from us, or it didn't. Do you limit God's grace to only those sins that we knowingly confess?

btw, my friend is a Oneness Pentacostal. Heaven forbid that Baptists bring in beliefs from such a group.

John 3:16 For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.

John 3:17 For God did not send His son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.

For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the GIFT of God.
    Ephesians 2:8

And God will not take His gift back.
I did not earn salvation, I cannot continue to earn salvation, It is a gift.
    By the Grace of God.
    I earn a paycheck not a gift.

There are only 2 ways to view this.

    1) Jesus paid for all of my sins
    2) I pay for my sins

If a person doesn't trust Christ, that person is not saved.

Again, if I stood in front of God and he said, "depart from me, I never knew you" He would be a liar. And God cannot lie.

I have a relationship with Him and He knows me.
I pray that when I die I'll not have any unconfessed sin in my life.

What about this: If I pray right now for God to forgive all my sins in the future, am I covered?

Ohhh. I've already done that the moment I got saved. Now there is no more CONDEMNATION.

That is a promise from God.
Here is another promise, or did Christ lie?

Joh 5:24 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, HATH everlasting life, and SHALL NOT come into condemnation; but IS passed from death unto life. (caps mine)

I "hath" everlasting life... For those that don't understand ancient English it simply means I have (present tense) everlasting life.

If I have something that is everlasting, when will it end? When I sin and don't confess it?

Well that would be OK, unless you read the rest of the verse, I WILL NOT BE CONDEMNED.
I have already (IS) passed from death unto life.

I already have eternal life, I don't have to wait until I die to get it.

    And what about:
Rom 8:35 Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? [shall] tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword?
Rom 8:36 As it is written, For thy sake we are killed all the day long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter.
Rom 8:37 Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us.
Rom 8:38 For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come,
Rom 8:39 Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

It says "things to come". I guess that means future sins.

I have heard verse 40 quoted though, It goes something like this, "except yourself"
but no Greek manuscript has been found to substantiate this claim, and no English version has it, it is just made up by people that like to boast that they can get to Heaven by being good little "Christians"

Eph 2:8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: [it is] the gift of God:
Eph 2:9 Not of works, lest any man should boast.

I certainly will not boast, I sin daily.

I am not proud of it, but I am proud of my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ who shed his perfect innocent blood to cover my sins, past present and future, even if I commit suicide,(Not planning to though, so don't worry :D ) run a red light and die, or anything else that might happen.

If we have to keep ourselves saved by repentance then we had better plan on going to Hell.

amen to that. I DO repent as I go, but His blood covers all sins, past present and future.

    DING! DING! DING!

How can a person say they trust Christ and kill themselves? that is not putting trust in Christ.

    Excuse me?

If God says He never knew you, it means He never knew you. Read Matthew 7:21 - 23. God certainly did not know those people who thought they were doing God's will.

    Let's finish that tinytim.

Romans 8:1 [There is] therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.

Seems it does not just stop at there is no condemnation. There is a requirement on our part. We are not to walk after the flesh, but after the Spirit.
