I maintain that there is a moral difference between sadistic attacks on animals and on human beings. Many people immorally place a higher value on animals.

    There is a moral difference.

What those idiots did was uncalled for and inhumane. It was not too long ago in U.S. history that the Humane Society came into being.

Several thoughts come to mind on this thread.

    1. Yes, the poor animal suffered and that is shameful.

    2. Often animal cruelty is but a step toward cruelty to others

    3. But for the grace of God, any one of us could have ended up in their place.

Those of you looking to toss those kids in an oven ask yourself, what have they been through to cause them to be this way?

Now, I am the last one to excuse sin because of past treatment. But consider them as children just a few years ago, what have they been through?

The effects that caused them to be this way in no way excuses their sin, but at the same time, it may explain why they are the way they are.

Let's not be too quick to judge just because a puppy's invovled.

And lastly, harming animals is bad. But the rape and murder of a two year old girl in England this week shows the true depths of human depravity.

Anyone ready for this old world to be burned with a fervent heat and re-created?

I will wager my next year's salary that this perverted piece of filth who raped and murdered this two-year-old girl got his start with cruelty to animals.

THAT'S what the people who are shocked and disgusted by the original thread are trying to say.......not that puppies have more value than people.

And by your own analogy.....what if this were the rape and murder of a 35 year old woman instead of a two-year-old? Somehow, I don't think it would have garnered the same reaction from people.

Maybe and maybe not. Sometimes sin develops only in the mind for years and then manifests itself in a seeming extreme.

Scarlett, I realise no-one here has said that animal life is more important that human life. What I referred was that the sin against the 2 year old girl shows the depth of depravity and not cruelty to animals. But, I do believe that cruelty to animals can be the path which leads to greater depravity.

Its like someone else has already mentioned. Sometimes the innocence of the victim has a lot to do with the severity of the crime.
