I sincerely pray they do, but the writer seems to be hinting it's a done deal.
Guess we'll just have to wait and see.

We should be able to confiscate the earnings of illegal aliens or, at least some portions of it, right?

I despaired a long time ago of either political party doing anything smart or productive concerning illegal aliens.

This begs the question. If they're illegal and we know it, why are we collecting SS taxes from them in the first place? Deport them.

Many of them use bogus SS #s. How do we distribute the money to the proper person?

If they own up to the number, deportation and forfeit of benefits would be in order for fraudulently using false SS #

The politicians, all of them, are buying votes. A democrat tactic from way back, but relatively new for Republicans.

We collect the payroll taxes, bogus, borrowed number or not. I thought the politicians just figured it supplemented regular SS.

I was wondering that as well.

As long as they're illegal, all they have earned is deportation.

That is exactly why all of them have been afraid to really tackle the illegal immigration problem.

Now the cat's out of the bag and the vote buying has begun in earnest.

I completely reject Bush's stand on this. It must be stopped. We don't have enough money to pay for our own social security and medicare let alone support illegal aliens.

    Not going to happen.

None of them have any guts. They're buying votes for the future.

True. And I thought vote-buying was just a phenomenon in third world countries.
Didn't expect to see it here in the US of A as well.
But I guess I am naive.
    Corruption comes in many forms.
Years ago I asked an official in the SSA if I could enjoy full retirement benefits even if I (1) did not become a US citizen, and (2) if I went home to enjoy my retirement check in the Philippines.
Since I came here to the US and started working after my 50th year in this fallen world, my retirement check will probably be just enough to buy my fortnightly groceries, but in the Philippines, I could live like a Duke.
The answer was no. (Now, this may not be corruption. But it is unfair.)

Full retirement benefits only ejoyed by US citizens, and non-citizens enjoy them only if they stay here in the US, if they go home to their countries they get only about 65-75%, or words to that effect.
And I came here and worked here and earned those benefits legally.
Illegal aliens did not earn those benefits legally.
What they earned legally would be whatever they worked for on a given day.

If money is deducted from their wages by law it is because they are purportedly legal aliens working legally and therefore subject to legal deductions.
They have bogus papers precisely because they want to look legal to be able to work here.
Employers do not bother to check if those papers are bogus, even if a legally blind person can "see" that those papers are bogus, because they need those workers.
Therefore any deductions to their paychecks are legal and not robbery.
It will not be robbery if they do not receive benefits after retirement because it was found out and it has been established they worked as illegal aliens.
It WILL be robbery if a natural-born citizen of this country, or a naturalized citizen of this country, is not afforded all the rights, privileges, and benefits of a fully retired worker after having legally been deducted for those benefits.
In my post above, I felt it was unfair that I will not be able to enjoy full retirement checks if I went home to the Philippines still as a Filipino citizen because I legally worked for those benefits, and I was legally deducted those dues.
    The operative word is legality.

    Absolutely.

I do not understand the reasoning behind cutting your benefits because you move out of the country. Do you know what it is?
