Exactly. Swedes and Italians are both "caucasians".
But when you put them next to each other, there's a difference.

Iranians, Indians (from India, mind you) are also considered caucasians.

Standingfirminchrist, may I marry a woman from India?

What makes you think it is pride. There are other reasons people may not want to see a inter-racial marriage.

Do you see very many Jews marrying outside of their race? I seem to remember you saying all Jews would be saved, but not sure it was you.

Tim, you got your head in the sand. If an American man marries a Russian woman (we're talking citizenship here), the situation poses the question of where his allegiance will lie. I'm glad you brought up the issue of illegal immigration, shrouded as it was in the cloud of political correctness. How many Americans supported amnesty simply because they were married to Latinos?

    It's a real issue.

The state has a compelling interest in the union between a man and a woman, and there is no more compelling interest than national security.

Come on. These people hate Hispanics? I'm sure you can find an example or two, maybe a joke or slur or two, but hatred? Just because some feel that our society is being transformed by the influx of (mostly illegal) Hispanics?

What is hatred? Not liking people for ________ reason is not hatred. Even looking down on someone is not hatred. This is what some want us to think, but it simply is not true. Hatred is hatred.

HATE v.t. To dislike greatly; to have a great aversion to. Abhor, detest, abominate.

To dislike is not to hate. This is a lie which is becoming a pillar of our new society.

I like to think of hatred as defined when action is taken to destroy or devalue the worth of the hated object.

Even so, let us not forget that at times it is good to hate. Christians are more and more assuming the thinking of the world. Let us not forget that a good rule of thumb is that if the world likes an idea, we should at that moment be most suspicious.

I thought a Christian's allegiance should lie with his heavenly citizenship.
And if both people, whether they are American, Russian, Cuban, Mexican, or any other nationality, are citizens of Heaven, then they should be able to get married. Granted, the red tape that is needed will be nightmarish, they should follow the laws of the country, in able to see that their marriage is recognized...

I'll admit, I know very little about immigration laws, but I do know there are procedures in place that allow US citizens to marry citizens from other countries, and national security is not at risk...

My wife's cousin is in the Air Force, while stationed in Germany, met a girl from Croatia... They got married in Croatia, and now they live in New Mexico. Nothing wrong with that marriage, they have 3 sons, and are a happily married Christian family.

The Bible speaks nothing about American national security.
You are taking spiritual concerns and applying them to national concerns.
    2 different issues...

You gave the definition, and it is right... "HATE v.t. To dislike greatly; to have a great aversion to. Abhor, detest, abominate."

The ones I am referring to do greatly dislike the hispanics around here... And according to your definition that is hate.

Jesus said that if you call someone fool, you are in danger of Hell's fire...
why? Because of the hate behind calling someone names... A Christian cannot hate another person, and be a true Christian...

And when people speak slurs, and jokes that are full of "great dislike", they are allowing their mouth to speak what is in their heart... hate.

And according to what you said in the above post: "I like to think of hatred as defined when action is taken to destroy or devalue the worth of the hated object."

Speaking slurs, is a action, and therefore denotes hate....

Oh that this was "actually" the case. I'm afraid there are far more American "Christian" than there are "Christian" Americans sad to say :tear:

Hopefully, his allegiance is to Christ and his family.
"simply because they were married to Latinos", as if being married to a Latino should make no difference in how you view immigration policy? Good Grief!
Wow!! Are you really saying that since the state gets to define what is in the interest of "national security", the federal government should outlaw marriage between citizens and non-citizens? Or just prohibit marrying Latinos?

You have far too much trust in the government.

    peace to you:praying:

    I forgot something...

Nothing speaks the love of Christ like saying to another human being...

"you !@#%$*%@ why don't you go back to where you came from... you are taking American jobs..."

Can't you just hear the love?

    Tim,
    Are you being sarcastic?

    JK:laugh:

Ok, "slur" is one of those words that cannot be well-defined, either. I shouldn't have used it. What I mean is simply that just because someone says something negative to or about a person (whether he should do it or not ethically is another question) does not mean you can say that he hates that person.:BangHead:

For instance.. I can say Bitsy is a loudmouth... but I still love her like a sis...

I don't understand your question. I said his understanding was contrary to scripture, meaning his understanding of the issue is contrary to what is taught in scripture. Is that what you are asking?

    peace to you:praying:

It is never good to hate, if the "object" of that hate is a person.

Hate sin all you want...never the sinner.

But what does this have to do with interracial relationships? Are you saying that because "the world accepts it," it is not right?

Didn't read the thread, but I had to add my thought.

A few years ago we (my wife and I) were at some friends' house. We were talking about our kids. Our friend mae the comment that she didn't have a problem if her kids married a black man or woman (we are white, duh). My wife was startled and asked why (the friend was from out west, while we are all from the South). Our friend said, "I would rahter my doughter marry a godly black man, or my son marry a godly black woman, than for them to marry a white heathen."

I have to agree with that. Being from the South, interracial marriage was a huge taboo. Much of that has changed now, but most churches are still mono-colored. We had never considered the thought, but our friend was right... skin color is just that, skin. It is the spirit and soul that matters the most. If Christ is the center of a person's life, nothing else matters.

Per the Beatles: "Let It Be!"

I say to each their own [not that inter-racial marriages is wrong].....what a person does in this life is ultimately "blood on their hands" and their responsibility. The church can only teach so much. The truth is, today's church HAS VERY LITTLE to say that can convince others to live according to the Bible. Only those folks who really love the Lord [a narrow road of person headed to heaven] will listen and follow. The majority of the people in this world, many who claim to be religious:saint: , or even Christian:praying: , do just what they want to do regardless of the Word of God. In fact, these folks:1_grouphug: will go out and find a church and a teacher/preacher who will "tickle their ears" and give them that love pat on their backside, than send them along their way as they drive madly down the multi-lane freeway to hell.

2 Timothy 4:2-Preach (A)the word; be ready in season and out of season; (B)reprove, rebuke, exhort, with great (C)patience and instruction. 3 For (D)the time will come when they will not endure (E)sound doctrine; but wanting to have their ears tickled, they will accumulate for themselves teachers in accordance to their own desires, 4 and (F)will turn away their ears from the truth and (G)will turn aside to myths.

    Shalom,

    Pastor Paul :type:
