I had a neat experience. I went to Des Moines to the 42nd Annual Iowa Prayer Breakfast this morning (had to leave at 4 am to get there [IMG] ). The main speaker was Lt Col. Brian Birdwell who survived the attack on the Pentagon on 9/11. He was burned on 60% of his bosy and much was 3rd degree burns. His testimony was incredible, he made me so proud. Many dignitaries were there, lots of legislators, former Gov. Branstad. Unfortunately, current Governor Vilsack (D-Mt. Pleasant) was not there and also missed the reception for the lt. Col. as well. Disappointing but not at all surprising if you follow Iowa politics at all. Oh, hhere I am am dwelling on the negative, the music, the prayers and the message were so refreshing and encouraging. Born in Oskaloosa, raised (my first 7 years)in West Des Moines, (Grandparents from 'Valley Junction' and Lorimor), I've got Iowa blood, and yes, I do follow Iowa politics. Vilsack, the pro-abortion Governor didn't show up? Big surprise! Not! Hope they prayed for the Episcopal Church in Iowa. The Cathedral (St Paul's, Des Moines)is bankrupt, and in one Iowa town, a 'lesbian priest' is living with her 'friend'. I could go on...
