Forgive me, but how do you know they were saved or not? Can you see their (the individual who commits suicide) hearts?

I am a Christian. I still struggle with sin, because I'm human. I sometimes in my flesh and selfishness commit intentional sin. This does not mean that I'm not saved, it means that I'm not perfect. Hopefully I'm more perfect than I was yesterday, and I like to think that I'm getting better, but who can gauge that but the Almighty?

    Joshua,

Refer to Matthew 7:18-20; Mark 7:20... I am sure there are many more that will show that we can know whether they are saved. If one professes Christ and does not show the fruit of the Spirit and continues to show the works of the flesh, there is a good indication that that one worships Christ with his lips but his heart is far from Him.

Also, if Christ said a good tree, (which according to a few passages in Psalms we are likened to), cannot bring forth evil fruit, how can one who is a true Christian bear that evil fruit of suicide?

Okay then, since the Bible tells us that we are striving for perfection (haven't reached it yet), what happens when a Christian slips up and commits a sin. Now I'm not talking about cold blooded intentional murder or such, because like you I don't believe a Christian could plot out the death of another "just for the meanness of it".

But what do you do about Peter who denied Christ 3 times. Peter lied! Was he not saved at the the time?

What about a person with a sexual addiction who slips up? Or an achoholic who falls off the wagon one night after a business dinner?

Do they also fear they weren't truly saved or they wouldn't have subcumbed to temptation?

What then about sins of omission? What if a Christian fails to offer charity? Is in a bad mood one day and fails to show joy? Are they not truely saved because they don't always show the fruits of the Spirit?

    mk,

I don't know all the answers (surprised?). I do have all the answers, they can be found in the Word of God. Guess we all need to study more.

But I do know that in 1 John 3:9, 10 we read that
Now, what would that mean since the previous chapter says
Are we truly in Christ? I know as long as we are in this flesh, we will sin. But in light of those verses, I am not sure we are in Christ if we yield our members to unrighteousness willingly.

As was stated earlier, in the thread... I am not sure we are worthy of being called 'Christians' because we are far from being Christ-like. As you said, 'striving for perfection.'

Thank you Phillip, for bringing common sense to an emotionally charged discussion. I couldn't agree with you more.

To the first question, your answer was "Sure.". That's the same thing as saying "Yes". So, you commit "intentional" sin. Then, you followed it up with an intentional lie, which is another sin. So much for not committing intentional sin.

Would you care to try again?

I've been called many names, but Satan hasn't been one of them until today.

Is this like a corollary of Godwin's Law? He who says that his opponent is Satan first loses the debate.

    standingfirminChrist quote
    ----------------------------------------
If I murdered someone esle and asked God to forgive me and truly meant it, was truly repentent, yes, God would forgive me.

But I could not ask Him to forgive me if I killed myself.
    -----------------------------------------

So if I shoot myself in the head a die instantly I go to hell, but if I take poison and die a little later and ask forgiveness I go to heaven.

    must remember that.

Jas 2:10 For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one [point], he is guilty of all.

So we are not under the law, but the principle is the same.

You could shoot a rickashe bullet and by the time it went around you could say "forgive me". :) What you think?

I be honest I don't know how to spell rickashe does anyone else, :)

I don't think anybody who is a native speaker of the English language gets to complain about the French language. :wavey:

We are in the flesh until the last breath exits our body. That makes us all sinners right to the end. With your logic, we all go to hell. I like to think more highly and forgiving of my God than this....
