Is there a difference?

    I don't like giving people the right to vote in the primary of their choice without registering as a member of that party. Suppose the nomination is almost a certainty for one party as it was for President Reagan's second term. Why wouldn't Republicans cross over and vote for the weakest Democrat who is running? It doesn't seem like the waY TO GET THE BEST TWO CANDIDATES IN THE ELECTION.

    A more relevant question is why wouldn't democrats cross over and vote for the weakest candidate?

    Just shows that democrats/leftists/Fascists can do more damage in two years than Republicans can in six.

    I agree with you compeltely! In fact not only is NY is a closed primiary State - you must be registered with a party on Oct 1 in order to vote in a primiary the following year! The one execption would be if you had just moved from out of State.

    There was crossover voting from both sides (based on the individual State).
