This is sort of a Public Service Announcement:

#1---the worm. I read on Yahoo News this morning that a worm is infecting computers, rendering them as "zombies", through Facebook.

#2--Their Terms of Service apparently allows them to use any public pictures or messages without your permission (technically they have your permission if you agreed to their TOS).

Just thought I'd let y'all know.

The worm only infects your computer if you receive a supposed message from a friend (that has been hacked) telling you to open a link that doesn't make sense (like, "you were caught on camera at...")

The terms of service issue has been revoked due to complaints. The users are now voting on terms of service. That lasted for only a day or two.

You're right, but with the recent Facebook thread in this forum, I felt it important to post it. I'm sure a Moderator will come and move it if necessary.

Right... Whatever you do, don't click on a link, and then click to add /update your flash player... That is how it is being circulated.

My guess is, it will get off of facebook also.. .

If you go to a site (any site, not just facebook) and it tells you to "click here" to update your flash player... DON'T DO IT. Go to Adobe.. and make sure your flash is up to date.

As for the TOS... I am impressed with the "townhall" type of discussion going on Facebook to allow the users to have an input on how the site is ran. I have been following some of it. After the discussion.. the owners of facebook will put together a resolution to be voted on by the users of Facebook.

As for privacy online.. don't ever expect to have complete privacy...
If you post something... a pic, statement, etc... expect it to get out.
Even if it is supposed to be private.

I never post anything online that I would be ashamed of...

Assume that what ever you post is public.. and you will be safe.

Well it doesn't seem to be a problem for Mac users so I have no worries.

I recently signed up for FB and we've started having computer problems with a virus. I'm wondering if this is the reason why, but I don't know how since I don't use a flashdrive or post videos or anything.

Don't people have anything better to do with their time than cause problems for other people's computers?
