A lawsuit crazy society that wants someone to pay for everything.

Maybe the Orleans Levee District should countersue the people for living there in the first place requiring them to build the levees.

They may have a case; after all, a ton of money went to Louisiana but little was spent on the levee systems.

McKernan has said the waters flowed through breaches in the levees and not over the top. If it is determined that the damage was caused by the breached levees and not because of an "Act of God" event, homeowners' policies would cover the damages.

I'd recommend persuing criminal charges against officials who misused public funds rather than pursuing personal enrichment.

That will only compound the financial problems NOLA is bound to have.

A civil suit does not preclude criminal prosecution.

I think the new lawsuit accusing the oil industry of causing Hurricane Katrina - Cox v. Nationwide Mutual, et al - is an even more frivolous lawsuit than this one.

Why would he? Most assistance is in the form of guaranteed loans.

This alone guarantees that a lawsuit is unavoidable. The local ensurance companies are always going to try to use the "Act of God" clause to avoid paying out. The local homeowners will always try to claim that it was not an "Act of God". Somebody on the outside will need to make a ruling on this.

Truth is I'll stick with the personal enrichment angle.


But we'll both have to wait till it's settled to find out the truth.

Maybe he ought to sue you and me for not being sure the levees were fixed. Check that. He already is.
