can't find the Scripture to support the inane 'agree to disagree' theory, eh?

snipped out all my comments about the lack of scriptural integrity to agree to disagree.

I decided that any arguement put forth just isn't worth the effort. It's too much like my day with 8th graders - I mean no personal affront to my friends here (the alluding to 8th graders), but it's May and I'm battle weary. I may be a bit snippy myself in addition to my comments. (get it -- me snippy -- comments snipped ;). Well, I do work with 8th graders. Groan all you want!)

    mcdirector,

What if your students decided that what you were teaching them was wrong in their eyes and just 'agreed to disagree'?

    What would be the results?
Would they be positive or negative?
Would the students advance to the next level of education if they decided to just stop in the learning process?

You should see where the 'agree to disagree' theology is dangerous.

It's less dangerous than your view:

    "I am always right."

And I suppose you can give us Bible that tells us we must agree on everything?

How about Romans 14v1-5? You really can't see the room to disagree there?

I don't think I have ever read a more strange teaching than we all must agree on everything.

But, if you all want to agree with me that will be grand :) .

since the Word of God does not say 'agree to disagree', but rather the opposite 'Behold how good and pleasant it is for the Brethren to dwell together in unity', I am at least right in this subject.

Can two walk together except they be agreed?

When I teach I try to engender debate, discouragement, and even disagreement as long as we honour and respect each other.

I can't imagine a class of non-respondent dolts who agreed with everything I said.

The example is a silly one.

If we extrapolate your example to this scenario, who takes the place of McDirector, as "unquestioned teacher?"

I'll tell you who...His Blood Spoke My Name.

Since you're always right, on everything, then it becomes incumbent upon us to conform our views to yours. Since it's wrong to disagree, and we disagree with you; thus, we're wrong.

Your brain's gonna have a charley horse trying to untie that logical granny knot.

(not to mention that your example doesn't even work in the setting you put it...a teacher can get something wrong...not often, but it happens!)

Again, the Word of God nowhere teaches 'agree to disagree'. So your argument is not with me. I only agree with God's Word.

Take it up with Him. Or would you rather twist the truth into a lie... accusing me for standing on God's Word?

Sure they can. Happens all the time. For example, I don't agree with my wife about everything, but we're as much one flesh as you and your wife are.

Ah, yes, the classic copout. The classics never go out of style.

Of course you are right, disagreeing should never affect unity.

Romans 14 says exactly that we can agree to disagree. Some eat meat, some don.t; some esteem some days, others don't. As long as the do it to the Lord we walk in unity.

Are you going to explain to us how Romans 14 teaches total agreement?

Why are you disagreeing with me? According to you you should agree with me!

The whole first part of the chapter - I paraphrased it above.

It does not say to agree to disagree. You may want to reparaphrase.

As a matter of fact, if you read down to verse 15, it clearly shows the opposite.

Not agree to disagree, but rather to refrain from destroying that one with your meat. That is not agreeing to disagree.

It it were agreeing to disagree, Paul would have wrote just agree that your meat, although it is frowned upon by the other person, will be consumed by you whether he likes it or not.

Nowhere is Paul teaching 'agree to disagree'.

You are simply wrong. Paul says lets each esteem things the way they want as long as they are persuaded that it is to God.

If we are not to disagree who is sinning now, you or me?

Churches split off because of indifferences. Is this God's will for the Body to be at odds with one another?

Since the Word of God says the Brethren should dwell together in unity, it is not God's Will to agree to disagree.

Agree to disagree is an oxymoron, there is no such thing. It is agreeing or disagreeing.... no middle ground.
