Isn't this interesting ........................he is against government run health care for others, but not for himself and his family.

    Military families EARN healthcare...

They put their lives on the line for us.

There is a big difference between a vet and a slob that wants to live off of others.

I concur, this is apples and oranges. The man's healthcare is earned as a benefit of his employment. It's no different than state, city, or federal employees who have similar government run plans. They're by no means on a par with public health insurance.

I am underemployed, and have no medical insurance. Being diabetic and hypertensive I desperately need refills for my prescriptions and new scripts when my old ones run out.
I have embarrassedly submitted an application to the State for free prescriptions or doctor visits and that application has been running and grinding in bureaucratic red tape for over a month now.
I have called around to the municipal health units and one referred me to another unit in another county forty miles away but I need an appointment set up and their only available time is mid September, and meantime everyday I down my medications.

My son, retired USAF, has the benefits your apologist are speaking of.
He is 32 years old (they had to retire him because of restless leg syndrome), a healthy wife, and a healthy son, and I need that coverage more than he does, and so does his mom, whose only coverage is this pitiful medicare.

    BUT I DON'T MIND, HEAR ME ?

I don't mind, because he served his country, and his country chose to reward him with that benefit, by established law already.
When his country called, he responded, and had he needed to, he would have laid his life down for it.
So did those who are already retired, like Joe Wilson, who by the way, is not a subordinate of President Obama anymore, but a respectable, respected member of another branch of government.

For the record, I would like Mr. Obama's bill to pass, because it COULD benefit me, as well, but I do not like it when people like your blogger talk the way they do about people who once worked at a job that would have required them to die for people like him.

Tiny, you are right in your post. However this misses the point of the article. Wilson has campaigned against government run health care, and yet he is a participant, as is his family, in government run health care. If he is so against it why is he not consistent and withdraw from the health care plan he and his family is in and campaign against all government run health care programs.

I have no problem with him being in a government run health care program. Under current law he is entitled to it as is him family. It is, IMHO, somewhat disingenuous to say it is all right for me, but not for you.

He stepped in it big time this time. I do not know if you were in the military or not, but it was drilled into us that you respect the rank of a person no matter how much you dislike the person. You could disagree with a person of higher rank, but you could not insult him/her. If you did you ended up being happy. The office of the president should be respected regardless of how much a person disagrees with the person and civility should be maintained even in strong disagreement.

If government run healthcare doesn't work, why are the service personnel and Congress on private insurance plans? Guess old Uncle Sam DOES know how to run a healthcare program.

As evidenced by the Walter Reed investigations.

And private companies have a better track record? Look at nursing homes inspection reports and get back to us.

So every private nursing home looks like Walter Reed ?

    Highly dubious.

There's that comprehension problem of yours again. Where did I say EVERY? Is EVERY military hospital as bad as the problems at WRMC?

You said "companies"...plural, in other words.

If you had the money, where would you go ? Private, or government ? And yeah, I challenge you to do a comparison of private and government facilities, tell us who gets the lower marks.

Or you could just insult me with your compassionate words.

Really ? My hero ? Can you find my last words of praise for him ?

I retracted a statement made about you, let's see if you are man enough to do the same. My bet is no.....

You never gave me the victim list of my bigotry, and I suspect the same, here.

I do not remember you ever criticizing Bush in any of his policy decisions, his military decisions, etc. You have called him a liberal. Also, I have never seen you say anything positive about Obama ... if you have I either missed it or have forgotten it.

Bigotry, your hateful comments to many are living proof of your arrogance and bigotry.

Perhaps you do not know what the word bigotry means. Let me help you understand through dictionary.com

Bigotry = stubborn and complete intolerance of any creed, belief, or opinion that differs from one's own.

Here's the bottom line. It is not hypocritical for a government employee with government managed health insurance to oppose the current federal healthcare proposals. Those individuals earn that health insurance as a benefit of the job.

Wilson's remark might have been rude and disrespectful, but it categorically does not qualify as the definition of hypocritical.

Not going to fly. You made an accusation, it is up to you to prove it. Remember, the same thing applied to me, and I retracted it. And your accusation had ZERO to do with Obama. And in fact, in another thread, going on at the SAME time this was, I was being critical of the Iraq war.

I'll give you another chance to retract the statement. If you are a man, that is.

Hateful comments against whom ? Show me some and tell me how they're bigoted. I think it's YOU who doesn't understand. Bigot is not a word that describes someone with a better argument than yours.

    I'll be waiting.

For the record Curtis was highly critical of the Bush admin on a regular basis.

CTB doesn't care. Anyone with a different opinion than his is worthy of assumptions, innuendo, and outright lies.

And that, dear friend, is TRUE bigotry.

I think I'll call him "Crabtownbigot".
