I believe he has earned his indictment!!! Newt is almost as bad, in personal life he is as bad or worst, but he hasn't used campaign money incorrectly.

Newt is a bad guy. But you are right, he isn't being indicted. And I don't like it when other people speculate, so this comes with some hypocritical guilt, but I wonder if Newt will get support from some of the same folks who slammed Edwards.

That being said, Edwards is ruined, and good for him.

What does Newt G. have to do with Edwards' problem?

Nothing really. However, the linkage is that both Newt and John Edwards were having affairs while their current wives were dying of cancer.

I knew about the affairs, of course, but I wasn't aware of NG's wife's issue. Paints a darker picture of him.

    Thanks, ITL.

InTheLight gave the answer to what I was thinking. Both had problems being a husband when their wives were going through illness, that took their lives.

Yep, Jackie Battley beat uterine cancer. After the divorce Newt resisted paying alimony and child support. Gingrich's pastor criticized Newt for this and took up a special offering for Jackie and Newt's two daughters. Newt's reaction? He left the church.

Newt divorced his second wife, Marianne, telling her he wanted a divorce by calling her at her mother's house on Mother's day, after learning she had a neurological condition that could lead to MS.

To be honest...I never know what to believe when it comes to Newt Gingrich. For years I have bounced back and forth between DC and Raleigh as a lobbyist/political consultant. I've met him several times and he is brilliant when talking one on one. I too had always heard the deathbed story about his first wife and believed it, as do most folks in DC. Then it came out she was still alive...so makes me wonder about anything I read on him and the slant that is being taken.

Since the above article was written by their daughter, I'll take her word for it. Do I support Newt? Not for the GOP nomination...but if he was the nominee I would support him in a heartbeat over Obama.

I too have had a few conversation with him and he is brilliant. I agree with so much of his political views, but wouldn't vote for him for anything at this point in time.
